TiVoPony just announced that TiVo Desktop 2.5 for Windows is about to ship - probably tomorrow (Tuesday). The main differences are:

• Support for Windows Vista
• Post-transfer video conversion by right-clicking on previously transferred videos. (Current versions of desktop only convert when the video is transferred.)

TiVoBlog.com has done a review of TiVo Desktop 2.4 Plus, specifically focusing on the conversion and import for iPod. It is a very positive review, check it out if you have iPod, TiVo, and Windows.

TiVo recently release TiVo Desktop 2.4, but without support for Windows Vista. Well, a reader of PVRBlog by the name of Shane sent in instructions on how to get it working under Vista, and you can read them here.

Dave Zatz seems to be the first to have noticed that, sometime in the past few days (the Release Notes are dated April 25, 2007), TiVo quietly bumped Desktop 2.4 from Preview to Release, with 2.4 replacing 2.3a on the download page. TiVo has started rolling out the 8.3 update for Series2 units. If you want it faster, sign up for the priority list. Series3 units will have an update soon.

A preview release of the coming TiVo Desktop 2.4 for Windows is now available for download. If you have a Series3, this includes the promised HD Photo viewer. TiVo snuck this out on April 25 and I just heard about it. TiVo Desktop for Mac v1.9.3 Updated April 25, 2006. This update provides a Universal binary that supports both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs.
