The arockalypse is coming!
Last night, our Lordi won the Eurovision song contest 2006 with a new record of 292 points. Their song is called "Hard Rock Hallelujah", and the entire band are always done up as monsters. This is what they look like:
The music is far from radical or shocking if you're into hard rock or heavy metal at all, but it was something very radical for the Eurovision! Lordi isn't really my cup of tea, but the song is quite catchy, and, as a metal head, I'm way, way tickled that this type of a song brought us the victory. Also, I'm not into the whole Eurovision thing (because 99% of the time it's plastic and totally lame), but we're been trying to succeed for 40 years, and had pretty much abandoned any hope of ever winning, so this feels good.
It seems that any decade now we will run out of reasons for our low national self-esteem!
