LJ is becoming useless

Aug 29, 2017 19:07

I've noticed that only very recent posts show up on my Friends page any more. Used to, if I got busy or my internet refused to work for a while (a constant battle), I could meander over to my Friends page and see what people had been up to. Not any more. If you didn't post it five minutes ago, it's gone. There is NOTHING on my Friends page. ( Read more... )

Mine goes back to Aug 13th. I don't know how far back it's supposed to go because I never looked. My inbox goes back farther because I never got rid of a bunch of stuff. That one has 104 pages.

I finally have one on my friends page now from a day or two ago. I think I'll watch and see how long before it goes away. There used to be a thing at the bottom of the page that was previous 10 entries or something and I could go back several pages if I needed so I could see what I'm missed. It's not there any more.

Mine says previous 25. I don't understand why yours is missing or that you are missing pages. I went as far back as the 13th of Aug I believe.

I think I may have figured it out. First of all, they don't let you go back near as far as they used to. I used to go back several weeks reading those things coming off a busy spell where I hadn't had time in a while. The other thing is, I think most of my "friends" have moved on and/or don't post much any more. So there are never more recent posts than what the page will handle, so the "previous 25" doesn't pop up. I think maybe in my lack of participation over the past year (working 2 jobs), I missed some kind of mass exodus or shut down or something.

A lot of people have moved to DW (and for now still running their LJ blogs) since the Russians took over and a lot of the LJ's blogs and comms can be deleted without notice if anyone violates their TOS. We were all forced to accept their TOS or we couldn't get back into our LJ blogs. I have an account over at DW that I have activated (a paid account) in anticipation of most of us moving blogs and comms over there. I have already linked up with most of the blogs and comms I was following here. I suggest you back up your stuff to DW with a free account if you don't already have a paid account there.

I guess I'll be checking out DW then. I hate it because I used to really like LJ. I miss the days when the sheppard hc site was active. Heck, I just miss the days when the SGA community as a whole was active and writing stories and writing each other!! Thank you for the help and advice and taking the time to talk to me.

Happy to help. We all have to stick together. I'm still very into SGA and still get some emails with stories on AO3 for SGA. I belonged to the Sheppard hurt/comfort blog too as well as others.

I'm so glad to find someone else still into SGA!!! And especially Sheppard h/c. Sounds like I need to check out AO3 for stories as well. The ones on fan fiction.net are few and far between. I've been working on a long one I've started several times over the years and always ended up abandoning because it just didn't work. I threw it all out and started all over and I'm finally making progress. I think I'm around 30,000 words right now and only about halfway finished. So hopefully I'll have a new one out before long.

It's been good talking to you and thank you again for the help!! I've missed this (conversations with other like minded SGA fans)!!

Oh, let me know when you finish. I'm always looking for more new stuff to read. Happy to talk to you and be of help. You should find a lot of stuff on AO3. Most of the authors moved their stuff there to protect their work.
