this information comes at the right moment. am just surfacing out of a low induced by fear of TIME (again).
i just keep reminding myself that i will NOT rush through this degree. i have 3 semesters left and by George (who's George?) I will take my time completing them.
Meanwhile... so you have 2 semesteres left, right? But considering you have to do Procedure and Conveyancing and Drafting (which are both year-longs), how can taking both all of 2006 AND first semester 2007 off (which, i presume means you can't do these units in either of these years) mean that you don't add more time to your degree? Doesn't that mean you wouldn't be able to do them before 2008? Or have they become 1 semester units? In which case, WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED?
Meanwhoile, i'm overloading next semester (by one unit). Deferring 2nd semester, and then doing a typical 5th year in 2007. HOWEVER, if i decide to do Arts honours (which would be good), I'll dilute the last year of law by doing some units in whichever year I decide to do Arts honours in (apparently, they'll let you do Law units if they think they won't interfere with your Honours). However, the units i'd like to combine with Arts honours include Procedure and Conveyancing, and you know what a bitch Procedure is. They might not let me do it. But that's ok, I'm REALLY good at exchanging blowjobs for favours.
This are the things I like to do. They may develop differently but I am working really hard at re-opening doors that I've been closing for myself since.... always.
no, i have 2 years left. due to my general faffing about in my second semesters i now have too many compulsory units left to do in one 2nd semester. hence the two years. however, if i was willing to overload a tad (i think 5-6 units a semester i.e. a normal law load...) i'd have one blank 1st semester which i think i could theoretically transfer to the beginning of 2007. so with a year of english honours (and fuck off if anyone thinks i'll be doing law at the same time) that should shit me out at the end of 2009. well wicked.
i think if anything this time away has taught me how ridiculously rushed we are back home. how intense is this drive to have us out of uni and into a career before we turn 25. sometimes well before. if i'd pushed it, i could have been out with two degrees at the ripe old age of 21. i mean, that is fucking insane. i'm living with a 25 year old german girl who is just coming to the end of her undergrad degree, and i'm mates with a couple of other guys who are hovering around 27/8. and so increasingly i'm realising how valuable time away from uni is. i hit uni at 16, straight from school and i've never had time to evaluate myself, or what i'm doing or how i'm doing it. and the novelty's worn off. we have ages. i want to use it. my life is worth more than a few letters and an arbitrary career. im really rather enjoying myself at the moment. and i see no end to accelerate its demise.
55 pages more essay. 11 days. and then im done for (possibly) 18 months. i am so excited.
