oh, concerts...

well, let's see. on saturday, i went up to portsmouth with leebenningfield to see jv again. once there, i met up with mary, justgivein, and her friend kirk/dirk/young john vanderslice upon arriving at the venue. it was kind of a weird place. jv played a pretty nice set, though not quite as nice as the salem show. after he purported to be done, someone yelled for exodus damage. jv said he thought that song didn't work solo acoustic, so, of course, i yelled "it did in salem!" this prompted jv to ask me up on stage to provide clap/stomp percussion for it. there exists a picture of this, but it is far too lame for me to post.

sunday night consisted of seeing of montreal in cambridge. much like last time, the set was very heavy on the sunlandic twins stuff. however now i've had more of a chance to listen to and get into those songs, so i had more fun. there was lots of shoving going on, but somehow i managed to get shoved right into the front row. once i got there, that was one less direction to be shoved from, so it was nice. i got lots of fun pictures. you'll have to pardon that first one, a guy bumped into me and made me hit the border button. grr. oh well.

i took a break from concerts on monday and did, uh... a whole lot of nothing. i think. i honestly can't remember a single important thing i did, at least.

tuesday consisted of a whole lot of classes, followed by seeing mike doughty at the paradise rock club. his new band is pretty awesome. it was a totally different crowd experience than of montreal. just a bunch of people keeping a little bit of distance from each other grooving on their own. no jumping or pushing. the band did a rendition of "true dreams of wichita" that sounded almost exactly like soul coughing's. you could just feel the excitement in the crowd. other highlights included mike refusing to talk about anal sex, a crazy jam with mike doing mark de gli antoni's part on samples (it was rather hilarious, as were the faces mike was making), the mashup of firetruck and it's raining men, and a surprise cover of hungry like the wolf. plenty of pictures here. my legs were hurting a fair bit during the show, so i'm kind of glad i'm taking a break from concerts for a little while.

since then, things have been going pretty well. my "yo momma" player made it to the semi-finals, which is just a bit disappointing but still not a bad thing. other than that, um, yeah. good times. -=]

oh, and while putting these pictures up, i decided to create an index to all my concert picture galleries. this is still under construction, but should be fully functional: i used to go to tmbg concerts way too much.
