i'm definitely feeling the effects of a long week here, but it's still time for an update to this journal. it seems that i haven't written in it for some time. what's to talk about? the usual i suppose.
work is a load of bull. i wish i could stop working at things remembered, if it were not for the simple fact that i need the money before i go away to college. the problem is the following, and i wish i could call the president of cole national up (things remembered's parent corporation), whose name is suzanne sutter, and tell her that she doesn't need to be making quite as many millions of dollars per year as she does. they don't pay the management or assistant management enough to (1) expect people with real business credentials to apply (i was lucky to have a manager with an undergrad degree in business for a while) or (2) to expect the people that they do get to stick around for a very long time. hello. simple cost-benefit analysis. what they don't seem to understand in their cost-cutting frenzy is that they're losing benefits at the same time. they might pay more for better people, but the stores would be run better, the shelf life of an employee would improve (even a part timer like me) and most importantly, sales volume would start to improve gradually. stop babying your employees and managers, things remembered, into having no discretion on how to run a business. we aren't machines, and your line "people are our most valuable asset" is a load of crap at the moment. wake up.
but now that i'm done with that, i think i'll talk about much more pleasant things. that's been coming for quite a while. first, of course, i should mention that i just passed four months with nan on may 1st, and i couldn't be happier. i love her, nd she really does just brighten my day with her being around. the landscape of my senior year would be rather sparse without her influence too. my my my. sometimes i think we work so well because we're different, sometimes because we're overly similar. it's so dynamic all the time, all it seems i can go is go along for the ride...which i'm perfectly happy to do.
speaking of rides, has anyone heard of the new millenium force at cedar point amusement park, sandusky, ohio. holy shit. this coaster is not only the fastest (120+ mph) and tallest (in excess of 420 ft.) roller coaster ever imagined and built, it also is one the most technologically advanced coasters built, being that it achieves its acceleration entirely through the use of huge electromagnets. and to add onto that, on the way up and the way back down (at almost vertical angles) the damn thing spirals. what else is there to say? RIDE IT.
i saw jenner today, my old band director. told him i was going to eastman. he smiled, nodded, muttered something like, "wow, very cool" and then said "save your pennies." thanks mr. jenner.
that's all for now, final band concert tomorrow, and awards banquet. oh i wish my eyes would stop watering. ha.
