I loved TDK when I saw it in the theater, even if I spent half the movie crying over Heath Ledger. In all honesty though I find it hard to write about close, intimate encounters if they involve sex in any form. It's like there is this block in my head that differentiates between the two. Maybe for other people it's just the reverse of that.
I hear you about gen fic. Can't compare with Batman in particular, but incredibly difficult to find in almost any fandom. Even if you're an avid reader of slash and romance, sometimes you just want a story without it. Romance too often becomes a substitute for real plot.
The solution is to write the gen fic yourself? :D

Some fandoms it's pretty easy to find gen. Every other fandom? An abundance of Mary-Sues or romance. Every now and then you find something with decent variety, but...

I love, love, LOVE The Dark Knight. I'm not ashamed to say that I watched it about 4 times in theaters. Though now that I think back on it, I really regret spending all that cash on one movie (especially since three of those times was spent watching in IMAX, so more money...).
I'm glad you finally got around to seeing it. I definitely applaud Chris Nolan on a job well done (you should check out his other movies. All of them are really good).
Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there. The Dark Knight's one of those fandoms where I don't focus on romance as much, but rather the dynamics of the characters' relationships.
Listed below is one writer that I absolutely LOVE for writing gen. She writes really fantastic fics that focus on Batman's and Joker's relationship (no, not slash!). I have to say she characterizes everyone really well. Even the Joker, who is pretty hard to do.
Oh yes. He has a big movie coming out 'Inception' and I am TOTALLY going to watch it. (Lol, Michael Caine is in it...that's like the 4th movie he's in that Nolan directed.) JULY 16! JULY SIXTEEEEEEEEEEEEN! (And with Leo there too? PFFFT -heaven!)
Memento, I hear, is a pretty good movie (Chris Nolan is really good at making mindfucking movies, muahaha. But that's why I love them.) Oh, and The Prestige isn't bad either.
But yeah, like I said before, just check them all out.
