I’m worth their time, I’m worth their effort, I’m worth their thought.

There’s something about traditional love letters (or any type of letter, really) that touches my heart. Probably because with this era of technology where sending information or messages are as easy as blinking - writing on a piece of paper can be considered as a hassle. Why write if you can just type? Why give it to the person if you can just click send?

But to be honest, that is precisely the reason why I appreciate traditional letters more. Writing requires effort, one that people doesn’t seem to exert much of nowadays. You’d think not only of the message you are going to send, but you’re also gonna have to think of beautifying your penmanship, choosing the best kind of paper or card design there is, as well as being careful of the things you want to say ‘cause you don’t want to risk tainting the paper with liquid paper if you wrote a wrong thought or have a typographical error. Writing requires sincerity, as you wouldn’t exert all that effort if the person you’re writing to isn’t worth your time. Aside from that, as mushy as it sounds, I like the thought of your skin touching that paper while you’re writing because it’s like having a moment of contact with the person you’ve sent it to once they’re reading it.

I don’t know, I just get very happy and excited whenever someone gives me a handwritten letter. Compared to virtual messages where one mistake could end up deleting the whole archive, letters are easier to keep, easier to take care of. Aside from that, the warm feeling when I received it stays with me whenever I see it, and I remember the person who gave it to me. I guess that could add up to the fact that I am a very sentimental person.

Truth is, I don’t care if it’s just written in a blank piece of paper or whatnot. For me, it means I’m worth their time, I’m worth their effort, I’m worth their thought - and that’s more than enough.
