Crying is one of our emotional outlets. Even if we can’t find the words to say what we feel, even if we hide it deep inside us, once we’re overwhelmed by these feelings, it will exhibit itself through our tears. This is probably the reason why it is very hard to hold back our tears, why it is hard to stop crying once we started and why do we feel better after letting it all out.
I used to dislike the idea of letting anyone see me cry. It felt like it was a weakness, one I wouldn’t want others to see. But as I grow older, I realized that it really wasn’t a weakness, it is one way of expressing how we really feel. I also learned that crying in front of the people you trust isn’t so bad, ‘cause the way they stand by you - just listening to your silent tears, your sniffles, your hiccups, your stammered words or just looking at your messy face full of tears, red nose and puffed up eyes, is more than enough reminder of how much they care and how much you are loved.
