Viva Mexico

My mom wants to take us (herself, my dad, my brother and sister and I) on a cruise to Mexico for Spring Break. I think she's jealous, because everyone we know except for her has gone on a cruise (usually somewhere cooler, like the Caribbean or the Bahamas or Hawaii or Alaska or something) and she desperately needs to make it all equal in her brain again.

I'm not complaining, I'd love to go on a cruise, and even the Mexican cruises go to awesome places (Mazatlan!). So I'm helping her research prices and it's EXPENSIVE AS BIG FAT ASS YO but mostly I'm pissed off because my flights to get out there are going to be a) retardedly long/early/late and b) almost as expensive as the cruise itself.

See, before I went to California for Danna's Bat Mitzvah, I booked a flight to go back in January for a week before school started again. It was great, I booked it early and had awesome seats and it only cost $223 (or thereabouts). The night before Danna's Bat Mitzvah, I was already in California, and I received an e-mail from Expedia telling me that my booking had been completely deleted and I had to buy a new ticket. Being a moron, I didn't a) save the e-mail or b) call Expedia to complain. I just checked the site--yes, my itinerary was gone--and booked a new ticket, for $315. Because it was closer to the actual flight date, etc.

In January, right before I left to go BACK to California, I checked my flight details and--WTF. There were TWO flights listed on my itinerary. The original flight had never been deleted like the e-mail said. I called Expedia this time because I was pissed off as all hell, and was told that without the original e-mail, they couldn't do anything for me except cancel one of the flights and hold the booking for me to use later, at a $100 penalty fee of course. We went around and around and I didn't get anywhere, so I cancelled the $315 (because if I'm going to pay an extra $100 + difference in ticket price to change it later, I'm going to have as much on there as possible to use FIRST) and went to California.

Now I need to book a flight for March, and the cruise leaves on Saturday the 4th at 9 am and comes back Sunday the 12th at 9 am. I have class that I cannot miss on Friday, so I can't leave Philly until around 5 (enough time to get home, get my luggage, and get to the airport on time) and that gets me into LA around 10 pm, due to ASS-EXPENSIVE non-stop flights so that I have to do a stopover (or two, I haven't actually booked the ticket yet). And on the way back--I have class on MONDAY that I can't miss either, so I have to leave LA relatively early--but if I am in Long Beach at 9 am, I can't even GET to LAX until around 1 pm at the EARLIEST and I'd really like to rest a little bit beforehand. So (again, massively expensive to go nonstop) I need to take a redeye (cheaper) that will get in around 5 or 7 am and leave me JUST enough time to get home, dump my luggage, and catch my bus. The only good thing in all of this is that Mike promised to come and get me (now I just need to figure out how to get TO the airport without leaving my car there; maybe I can get his mom to drive me).

AARGH. And the cat peed on my bathrobe and I put it on right before I realized it and now I smell like cat pee EVEN THOUGH I just showered.

cats, flying, mexico
