awesome mom is awesome

My internet is down yet again. Awesome. I recorded some podfic, but they're not going to get posted until I have working internet again. Obviously this means I should have had time to do some writing, but sadly that's not the case. I would have the time today, but I'm feeling too tired to manage anything that makes much sense. This is because I worked last night, which I haven't done in ages.

I've always known that there isn't much of any kind of (at least official) LGBT activity where I live. What I hadn't quite realised I suppose is that this actually means none whatsoever. As in nothing. At all. I guess after that horrible campaign I wrote about in an earlier post, about how to cure your gay through the power of god, this realisation didn't make me too happy. Especially since it means that we have no support at all for the kids around here that want/need it.

We do have this organization called SETA (I suppose the name would translate as "sexual equality") and it has a number of affiliates or member organizations (I have no idea what the right term is) across the country, except that around where I live seems to be this giant black hole with nothing. So I called mom and told her I wanted to see her and then wanted to know why there isn't anything at all around here and why does our home town suck? Obviously my whole message was "Mom, fix it! Now!"

Well I did say more than that, including the fact that I'd like to do something about it, but I have no idea what to do. And it's not like I can start a whole damn organisation on my own. For one, I'd have no idea where to start. But, yes mom promised to talk to people and... well, I suppose I'll have to wait till next week. Hopefully we'll get something done.
