LJ is being more annoying than usual... again. *sigh*
Did I ever complain about the supernatural crossover big bang I'm trying to get done? I have no idea how I'm supposed to manage that and there's less than a month left. I know what I want to happen in the fic and everything. There are outlines (and that's something I don't usually do), but the actual fic refuses to get written.
Well fics actually. I've given up even trying with the White Collar cross. I'll try writing it some other time. *nods* Still leaves me with two fics, neither of which should be this hard.
So, let me tell you about the fics some more.
A Ten Inch Hero crossover simply because I couldn't resist slashing Dean/Priestly (It's doubly awesome!). So that's the whole reason for the fic and the whole plot is pretty much just getting them together, which for various reasons doesn't seem very likely to me under normal circumstances. I actually wrote the outline for the fic almost a year ago and then never got around to writing it. I thought this would be a good reason to get to it. So I'd totally forgotten the specifics of what I wrote in the outline and when I read through it again I came to the conclusion that it is awesome (and really doesn't sound like me at all). Not because it's all that original or anything, but it features such things as super-special-awesome-emergency-soulbonding, now tell me that isn't awesome. :D (Seriously, I wrote that?)
I'm not at all sure I can get the fic written in time though, because while the outline is amusing the hell out of me it's a bit fuzzy on some details about how certain things happen. Now that I'm actually trying to write the fic, I'm having quite a bit of trouble trying to figure out some of those details.
Okay, the Harry Potter cross is something else I started ages ago. Nothing was ever really supposed to come out of it. See it was around when those "insert Harry into first season of Supernatural" stories were all the rage on ff.net (are they still doing those?). More often than not nothing actually changes on the show, Harry just kind of hangs around (and probably gets into a relationship with one or both of the Winchesters). That wouldn't quite work would it? Stick Harry in there and he'd change things, wouldn't he? And I started wondering; if you added Harry into season one how far could you realistically get without things changing too much? Of course after a while I had to try, so the whole thing started as an attempt to write in Harry into the first season and keep to the show's plotline for as long as I could (I was betting that I couldn't do that for very long, because that just doesn't work damn it). Of course in the spirit of these things Harry was probably a bit stronger than what would be entirely believable (yay über!Harry), both magically and when it comes to physical fighting skills and naturally he didn't quite look like what the epilogue described. And in the course of trying to not have Harry screw up the plotline he slowly acquired quite a peculiar characterisation where he just stood back and didn't get involved and also flirted quite a bit with Dean.
After awhile I couldn't quite stand all the sense this wasn't making and started thinking of explanations. And then suddenly it all got out of hand and the actual story I'm writing now starts in 1992 and features at this point alternate universes, portals, time travel, Harry, John and Bobby. That original thing is probably going to be a sequel because there's just no way I'm going to get all the way to 2005 and then finnish the rest of that story too. *headdesk* And I have the feeling like there's going to be a story in between there too, or possibly a few shorter ficlets.
Now this first story is gen. But that time in between 1992 and 2005, I'm pretty sure that there's some Harry/John in there (pretty damn sure since I already wrote the drunk sex...). Yeah, and like I said later there's a whole hell of a lot of building up toward Harry/Dean (I don't know if it's going to happen or not, though). I don't know how this happened, it just sort of did.
At least I've been enjoying the fic. Despite the ridiculousness of it all. :D
