[#118] I'm still not sick of my default icon

That's it really for the title. *_________* I mean, i wasn't sick of my last one, but I'm not entirely sure it showed up because it was past my default 15. lolol (it showed up for me anyway and that's good enough. Cough.)

i. I watched eps 2-3 of Strawberry Night last night and DUDE, this drama only serves to infuriate me. Before I get to the hated character, I have to start out saying that this is pretty damn good. In terms of the gory stories that are more twisted than usual to the strong characters that hold this drama up, it's definitely a good drama. I don't know if I'd say it's my favorite detective drama so far or if I can say that it's unique, but it's definitely worth a watch for those who like that genre. That said, those two eps had a pretty obvious villain once you saw Oomasa Aya appear at the end of the 2nd ep and no culprit had been caught. I mean, she was the indirect killer considering she didn't make the drug, but she was the one who distributed the drug making her the one we'd really been searching for. All dramas/shows are like that though--the big name is pretty much always the villain, so that's predictable enough. But the detective team and the way they go for the case feels more realistic than most detective dramas--not that I'd know because, obvs, I'm not a detective and I don't know how things work in them. Comparing it to Lucky Seven or even Ending Planner, which are both detective dramas (Ending Planner is half at the very least), I feel like this one is most accurate in terms of seeing how police work may/may not go. It probably doesn't move as fast, but I definitely think the work done is the same.

I also think what sets this show apart is that it is most likely the detective drama with the most cop deaths ever. I'd never really realized this until I saw this show, but most detective dramas have no work deaths--or at least it's very few or it's at the very end for a big dramatic scene. In this (including the drama sp), there've already been two big cop deaths. And IT'S ONLY BEEN 3 EPS AND AN SP. Can you imagine an 11 eps in? I'm so positive we're going to be seeing more. (And I'm pretty sure it'll be one of the --well, I don't want to say main, but one of the regular supporting cast.)

But it isn't perfect (as noted above), mainly because they lean a little too much on the dramatic side. I mean, it makes sense because of the storylines that they're telling--at least starting from the drama sp into the 3rd ep, all of the stories are twisted and fucked up and I am remembering the 1st ep where you literally see a body SPLIT IN HALF. It's disgusting. (And also in the first ep, the train scene made me seriously want to throw up, it was so fucked up.) So yeah, it's definitely more dramatic with only a little sprinkling of humor. But my biggest dramatic problem is actually when they try to go into the detective's backstories. Luckily in the 2nd/3rd ep, we didn't get a re-reminder of Himekawa's rape or of Nori's trauma (which we still don't know)--well they did kind of show Nori's again, but it was very brief WHICH I LIKED. I hated how in the first ep it was like OH HEY, HIMEKAWA WAS RAPED WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER like every 10 minutes. It was frustrating, but thankfully, they backed off. I don't anticipate this sticking though--or at least I'm pretty sure there will be a rape case at some point or maybe a case involving Himekawa's rapist so, yeah. We'll see how that goes.

But now let's move into the GOOD STUFF. AKA how much i want to fucking kill Hashizume (had to look that up), Watanabe Ikkei's character. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he died. I would not shed a fucking tear. He has been the most sexist, misogynistic character I have ever seen. I have not been this infuriated with a character since Daruma from Akihabara@Deep, and this is a different type of anger. Daruma just plain annoyed me and I wished he didn't exist, but Hashizume? I want to fucking punch him out myself. Now, I'm not entirely sure what his position is, but he seems to be high up or at least someone with a bit of power because he's a higher rank than Himekawa (Takeuchi Yuko's character) and she does bow to him (not literally, you know what I mean). He does seem to be at least a little on the even level with Himekawa's direct superior? I'm not entirely sure and it may take me rewatching the first ep or SP to get the titles down, but anyway. He treats Himekawa like shit, belittles her all the time and thinks she has no skill whatsoever.

For example, in the 2nd ep, they were going over the details of the case, and you know, the guy asks "Any questions?" Himekawa AND another detective, a senpai chief, raise their hands. Does Hashizume say anything about Shima (the other detective)? NO. HE YELLS, "HIMEKAWA, WERE YOU EVEN PAYING ATTENTION?" The fuck?! She was NOT the only one who was asking a question. And when she asks it and gets the response, Shima says, "That's the same question I had." SO YOU KNOW WHAT, HASHIZUME, YOU CAN SUCK IT. And there are multiple occasions where he just yells at her, and tells her that she's stupid and that she shouldn't be a detective. And he calls her princess all the fucking time. Mind you, it's an easy comment to make with a name like Himekawa, but I don't think she appreciates this shit from people who mean it sarcastically--unlike the medical examiner who she likes and makes a point to visit (for other reasons, but never mind that). So no, I HATE HIS FACE. I am super hoping he fucking dies by the end of this drama because if not, I will reach over my damn screen and do it myself. I have so much anger for him, because I think Himekawa worked hard to get where she is and she's smart. Sure, she can be a little emotional at times, but no, it is NOT because she's fucking female. That is just her personality, so you can SUCK IT HASHIZUME.

Can you just tell I hate him? (you should see me on twitter. rant upon rant upon rant in 140 characters or less.)

Um, I've written too much for Strawberry Night so I'm going to end on a happy note. I SHIP KIKUTA/HIMEKAWA. And it seems everyone else does too. LOL Kikuta was talking to his senpai (Shima from above) and Shima flat-out says to him, "You're completely charmed by [Himekawa]. So is she a superior or is she... something more?" LOVE IT. *__________* It's so fucking obvious, so I'm hoping since they've been sprinkling hints since the DRAMA SPECIAL, they'll actually fucking do something about it. i am just worried it will take a near-death experience for something to happen--never mind Himekawa almost fell to her death in the SP. I love Kikuta and NOTHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO HIM. And you guys already know about my Takeuchi Yuko girl!crush that is almost as big as my Sakamoto crush. (they may be even actually. o.o)

ii. Update on real life, I suppose. I'm applying for another position in my company. It'll be a full time job though! My boss is really pushing for me to move for it because she's pretty positive that my job is pretty much on the line. XD So here's to hoping. *fingers crossed* (this was most definitely not my original second point, but I can't remember what it actually is so...this is it now. lol)

iii. So of course, I have to talk about Jin/Meisa getting married, because holy fuck that came out of the damn blue. First of all, I wish them the best. If they're happy together, then they definitely deserve to be with each other. and i shipped that a bit but whatever. I'm just entirely hoping this was a longer relationship then when we first got the rumor they were dating. lol If so, man they kept that secret. XD I do have a theory though about the pregnancy. If in fact it is not true (which I'm inclined to think it is because of the quickness to marriage), but if NOT, I think it may have been a PR move. Like they purposely made it a rumor so that it's not the worst scenario? If you guys catch my drift? It's kind of like asking for 100 bucks, knowing you won't get it, and then going for the amount you really want because it's the least worse option. So in this case, they go, okay they got married. How do we lessen the blow a little? Instead of just letting out that they were married, tack on the possible pregnancy, that way they can just be like. Actually, no! It's just a marriage--taking away the stigma of a shotgun wedding? I don't know, it makes no sense. But I'm really trying to rationalize why there hasn't been a confirmation on the pregnancy yet. (Jin and Meisa may be busy honeymooning--lol I don't think?--but their Jimushos aren't?) I don't know, it's weird. I would think they'd announce both at the same time. Unless they're staggering the announcement so that people can first get used to the idea that they're married, then LATER drop the bomb that, oh yeah, she's pregnant to--now mull that over after people have gotten used to the marriage.

I truly want to believe though that both parties wanted this. Because marriage is a big deal. I don't really mind too much about the age, because I've already had my mind blown by my first love being married and having a child (and he's younger than me by a few months so whatever). Plus my parents got married at like 21/23 so to be honest, the age thing is definitely not an issue. My parents have 4 children and are happily married and I want to believe in relationships like theirs. Not that Jin/Meisa are my parents in any way, shape or form, but I'm hoping for a love like theirs. (Okay, so my parents also have more history, but I don't know either Jin or Meisa so I cannot verify this fact, lol)

I also want to believe that neither career will suffer. I mean, if Meisa is in fact pregnant, she will probably take a hiatus, but I think there are a bunch of actresses in Japan who have children and then go back to work. It's not as common, but I think Meisa is still growing as an actress/singer, so I want to say that it can work. As for Jin, I think it should work too. Which makes me super confused when I see comments like "Goodbye, America," because I don't really understand the logic. I don't think Americans will care at all? Or are they saying the Jimusho will take that away from him? Because what? I don't know, just some curious thoughts.

That's really it for now! I think I am rambling today. o.o I hope this doesn't carry on through the rest of the day, lol.

strawberry night, my shipping hat is easy (like me), rambling is what i'm good at, am i being analytical? wth?, takeuchi yuko is the best ever, akanishi jin is smex on paper (and off), relationships in the entertainment busin, kuroki meisa is hot with a capital h
