I went to my first Tribeca Film Festival movie yesterday and it was amazing. As my mom said when I told her, I'm apparently "living my life as a single person." ~_~;; The movie I went to see: Romantics Anonymous

Please watch, it is so FUCKING GOOD. Hell, I'd say that about the movie in general!
So I haven't seen very many French films; this becomes only the third. And ohmygod, it made me want to watch more French films. Isn't that a mark of how good it was? *_________* So the story tracks two very awkwardly shy people (they called it emotional--and I think I described it to C as someone who just gets tense/stressed at pretty much everything) and how they deal with life and fall in love. And it involved chocolate. Mmm. I don't even like chocolate all that much, but the way they described how the chocolate tasted and how the actors seemed to seriously enjoy every bite--I wanted to have some of this amazing chocolate.
The thing that's greatest about this movie is the comedy. Every five minutes you're laughing about something or another, but the director's not making fun of these people. Sure, they're a little strange and bizarre and have very obvious quirks, but they're very human. Their anxiety is a lot exaggerated but they have the same fears we do, just pushed to the extreme. And it makes so much sense. The two lead actors had these little unspoken twitches where you could seriously see how freaked out they were in situations--like the male lead, Jean-Rene. When he was especially nervous, his lower lip would quiver so hard.
But when they were happy, you could tell that too. It was so lovely when, for example, the female lead, Angelique (oh hay that could've been my name lol) would burst into song. She sang a lot throughout the film but the way she sang was a sign of how confident she was feeling at that moment. At one point when she was freaked out, her voice would quaver. But when she was feeling happy with herself, she'd even add in a couple of dance moves (lol i know but oh so cute) and just let that side of her shine. It was glorious.
And at the end, sure they found each other and were able to make things work, they're still the same as they were before. They're working together this time and that's what makes it good. *__________* It's not a perfect life by far, they're not "fixed." They're just them.
In short, it is worth the watch--even if you don't like foreign films. You'll laugh, you'll care about the characters, you'll laugh some more. You'll love it. (I suddenly want to watch more French romantic comedies. This is only the 2nd romcom I've watched and 2/2 on the greatness scale! *_________* Bodes well.)
In other stuff, my mom had been telling me about this amazing (and cheap, more importantly) dumpling place in Chinatown and since I'd been in the area, I dropped by. *_________* Just as good as she'd said. I had gotten 50 frozen dumplings (pork and chives) for 8 dollars (holy shit, cheap) and brought it hope. We boiled some for dinner and OMG, IT WAS SO DELICIOUS I CAN'T EVEN TELL YOU GUYS. If you're in NYC, totally check it out!!! Tasty Dumplings in Chinatown. 54 Mulberry St. *____________* Seriously worth it.
