A documentary on History Channel showing the linking of extremist anti-communist Roman Catholics providing safe passage for proven Nazi war criminals.  They used anti-Communism as an excuse to legitimise this.

Many people helped.  The 60 year rule about stuff being de-classified has illuminated much of the dirty goings on.
