Eeva sat in the chilly outhouse, she was very upset in addition to not feeling overly well. This was absolute bullshit! This wasn't fair! She hated this! She'd not packed anything in preparation for this moment! It was more than a week too early! She'd not wanted to pack for everything when it was this early in her cycle. She'd planned to spend a few days having fun and then when they next walked to town she could buy something there. Now someone was going to have to make a special trip, as there was no way she'd be able to make it three kilometers free bleeding...
What was even more embarrassing was that she was going to have to wash her panties in the stream with cold water and lye soap and hope no one pestered her too much while doing it. Linus didn't even know. He'd just woken up to her being gone, and had gone to the great hall looking for her, but found only Siguard there to tell him she was hold up in the outhouse. When the strutting rooster that was the Dane tried to come in she'd given him a roll of toilet tissue and asked that he please go find her cousin or Eduard. She was too embarrassed to ask for Linus. It was too early in their relationship for her to feel comfortable about saying: "Hey, I have my period and I'm completely unprepared. Can you walk three kilometers to stammer embarrassingly at a cashier to get me some lady products?" Yeah. It'd scar him for life. At least Tino was family and Eduard was as good as. They understood better, they were closer to her and would help her in a discreet manner. Tino was certainly comfortable enough in his own masculinity to buy a box of tampons "They're obviously not for me." he'd say. Even Eduard could be logical and rational about it. "A have a family member trapped in an outhouse, can I please just buy these with no staring, it's obvious I'm here on behest of a woman." But Linus? She didn't know how comfortable he'd be with buying a box of tampons. She was being self conscious, but she was entitled to! She was surrounded by a bunch of men and none of them could understand her plight!
She was dragged from her thought by a knock on the door. "Eeva. It's Tino. Me and Eduard are here, what's wrong? Are you sick?"
"No." She croaked. "I got my period a week and a half early."
"Want me to go get your lady-bag?"
"I don't have anything in my lady-bag. I didn't want to have to display those through customs or carry them so I was just going to walk to town and get some this week, but I wasn't anticipating it to be so early, and I felt none of the warning signs." She was obviously moping. "I've been in here for hours. And it's getting cold. But I can't walk the three kilometers like this."
Tino sighed. Oh bother.
