Year in Fandom Meme 2018
1. Your main fandom of the year?
This is the same every year, it always starts with "If you'd asked me in the middle of the year" :D
So... if you had, it would have been Fyra År Till. I have never been this taken with a movie in my life. Movie fandoms are usually short-lived, and I don't watch things twice. But this movie was so cute, and it was in Swedish - which probably made all the difference. It kept my interest, made me learn the language, and I watched it at least half a dozen times, just to see how much better I'd understand it this time around. :)
But movies are question 2. (see below)
The second half of the year: Guardian! The attraction here is definitely the fandom itself. I haven't been active in a fandom for a while (I blame tumblr for everything), and what a wonderful fandom it is!

3. Your favorite book read this year?
The three that I gave 5 stars were Ready Player One, Brothers in Arms (Vorkosigan) and Ancillary Mercy. They are all excellent.

4. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
My Guardian playlist. It has a few other BL songs on it, but mostly Zhu Yilong and/or Bai Yu singing. *sigh*
The best one is still the song from the soundtrack (non-spoilery video version) :
5. Your favorite TV show of the year?
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Guardian
and then some Chinese BL things, Like Love is my fave among those.
6. Your favorite LJ community of the year?
So many of my spoons went to Guardian this year, I could barely manage to keep my own comms running. (I feel like I neglected them. They were more of a chore this year. Not about to drop them or anything, though.)
My faves are Guardian-related, of course:

7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Guardian! And all the friends I made through it. <3
And maybe Discord. I don't like chat, per se, it is way too exciting for me. (Like, so exciting I can't sleep.) But I am trying it for the first time, so it's definitely a new experience.
And while we're on the topic of platforms: Pillowfort . I still don't think it's going to catch on - it's not good enough yet. But I'll wait and see.
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
Timeless. OMG that second season was so bad. :(((((
I haven't watched the special yet. (Will do so on the weekend.) Not sure it's going to be able to salvage anything for me, though.

Hahaha. Zhu Yilong. *sigh*
10. Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
I'm going to say

The proposal on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (as recced this week).
12. The most missed of your old fandoms?
As usual: I can't really say I miss any of them.

Right now? None at all. I still have a ton of Guardian canon to catch up on and then there's a lot of other cdrama I haven't watched yet... .

14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Uuuh... I am hesitant about Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6. I'm sure it's going to be good, but I'm not ecstatic about it.
Detective L? Wu Xie? (Oh god, I am so hopelessly stuck in this ditch.)
No, I know: that the cnovels I am reading will be finished translating! I'm reading Scum-Villain and Guardian and Memory Lost, and they're all in progress (the Memory Lost translation has been ongoing for two years O_o).
