All things, even the good ones, must come to an end eventually.  Thank you everyone who participated and showed their love during  Tin Man Author Appreciation Week .  Some posted posted to their personal LJ accounts, others' to their favorite communities.  Regardless of how you showed your love, without you, "all of this" would not have been a ( Read more... )

...obviously, there's room for interpretation between Yes and No :p

No, I would not participate again because I got reamed by member - MEMBERS mind you, not the mods, for my AAW post to the com instead of my journal. This ended in my leaving a community that I loved very much.

At the end of the day, the spirit and intent of AAW was about appreciating the authors for their work and contributions to the Tin Man fandom.

AAW was a new experience for everyone. For each community, their own individual guidelines and rules, both written, and unwritten, may not have been established to handle such an experience.

As such, it was an oversight that I did not specify the exact means and methods of how to conduct such appreciation. I thereby set up any LJ user for potential failure by not clarifying with the community's moderator on whether or not public annoucements of appreciation would be accepted by that community or not. These oversights will be rectified if there is ever another AAW.

I am sorry that your experience with AAW has reached the conclusion that it has. It certainly mars what I saw as a positive program.

If this event, or other similar event, is ever held again, I hope that you will reconsider your decision.

I doubt any mods hold you responsible for ensuring that everyone who participates in AAW does so in a way that complies with the comm rules. That's their job.

*Hatch opens and a figure emerges from the ecru titanium shell*

I know it's the mods' job to uphold comm rules. But stilll...*sigh*

Consider it a personality quirk (which is sometimes either a strength, or a weakness) where I wanted to make sure that all of the i's were dotted and t's crossed to try to ensure a pleasant experience.

I consider it lessons learned for next time. *pulls out emergency Caingerbread kit and starts to eat*

I was unable to participate due to RL sticking it's nose in where it doesn't belong >.< *shakes fist at RL* But I had full intentions on doing so.

I just wanted to clarify my responses a bit as the simple 'yes' and 'no' on a couple might be misleading. :-)

I put 'no' for needing other appreciation weeks, but more because I had put 'yes' to including other media. I think a general 'fandom appreciation' week would be a nice idea. Rather than singling out one subgroup for accolades, creators and readers giving appreciation for each at the same time, as it were. Potter fandom did something similar a couple years ago and I thought it worked really well.

I wish I'd been around LJ more lately and had been aware this was going on before now. heh. Not your fault. My own for not checking in, as there *were* advertisements made in the main Tin Man comm I frequent. I just happened to not have a lot of LJ time recently. :-)

I'd be very interested in participating in any future appreciation weeks, though. I love the idea. *g*

I did not participate, since RL handed me a doozy lately and I've just got back into the fandom waters, so to speak ( ... )
