AAW was a new experience for everyone. For each community, their own individual guidelines and rules, both written, and unwritten, may not have been established to handle such an experience.
As such, it was an oversight that I did not specify the exact means and methods of how to conduct such appreciation. I thereby set up any LJ user for potential failure by not clarifying with the community's moderator on whether or not public annoucements of appreciation would be accepted by that community or not. These oversights will be rectified if there is ever another AAW.
I am sorry that your experience with AAW has reached the conclusion that it has. It certainly mars what I saw as a positive program.
If this event, or other similar event, is ever held again, I hope that you will reconsider your decision.

I know it's the mods' job to uphold comm rules. But stilll...*sigh*
Consider it a personality quirk (which is sometimes either a strength, or a weakness) where I wanted to make sure that all of the i's were dotted and t's crossed to try to ensure a pleasant experience.
I consider it lessons learned for next time. *pulls out emergency Caingerbread kit and starts to eat*
