pre-eclamsia
it's official, the doctors are really not happy with me. i have been placed on 50% bedrest which means that i can work 4 hours a day at most. It does not mean that when i am home, i can just be home doing whatever. No, when i am at home, i am supposed to be in bed, on my left side, with my feet elevated. yikes. well, you can probably guess that means that I am not obeying doctors orders... right now. yeah. it's only been a couple days and i'm climbing the walls. oh, the reason for this prison-like environment is that i have pregnancy-induced high blood pressure, or pre-eclamsia. high blood pressure runs in my family and this is not an uncommon problem so it's no great shocker. when i have gone to the doc's office, they check my bp and it's high (like 150 over 95) and then they have me lay down on my left side and it's normal. hence that is what i'm supposed to do all the time now. i guess we're not in a state of emergency here because if it were real bad, they'd have me on full bedrest or at nearly 35 weeks along, they could safely have me deliver the baby at this point. so we're just hanging out for now. hopefully not too much longer. it's making me crazy.
i had to miss my baby shower yesterday which sucks big time. my mom was there and she took the gifts home and is going to bring them to me when she comes to visit after the baby is born. the thing is, most people did not want her to open the gifts, so at this point, I don't know what I have to yet buy and i don't want to wait until the baby is born to buy things that I could get now. so i guess I'm going to have her peak in on the gifts and tell me what they are. what people don't know, won't hurt them right?
oh and if anyone ever thinks of registering for gifts at Walmart, I don't recommend it. my mother had me do that because in the podunk town where i'm from, it's an hour drive to a shopping mall, let alone to a Babies R Us (which is the main place that i registered). the only thing that they have is a Walmart so i had another small registry there, for my country kin-folk. but the problem is, walmart is very bad about taking things off the registry, once they are bought. so i got 3 of the bottle sets that i registered for, instead of 1. the mattress i registered for was not taken off the registry but it wasn't duplicated. there were other small problems.
ok, enough of break time, i need to go back and lay down. i get tired just doing nuthin'
