He couldn’t keep this up. The lies were eating him up inside, but he could never confess, not without losing the one person he cared about most. He was sure Cook could never forgive him if he found out all the things he hadn’t been truthful about.
But he’d been making himself distant lately, and this couldn’t be helping things either. He’d put distance in their relationship and he knew Cook could tell, he could fell him slipping right from his fingers but he was too much of a coward to do anything about it. Cook deserved so much better anyway, he’d see it too if only David could be honest.
He drove him away. Him and his stupid lies are what made Cook pack up, are the cause of him coming back from tour to an empty house, with not enough a note left for him. He’d done this to himself and he couldn’t even let himself find him again. He didn’t deserve someone so wonderful, he’d be better off alone anyway.
