Title: Pretend This Is Fiction
Author:
tinkertoo aka Cassie
Rating: PG in this chapter, much higher in others
Fandom: American Idol Season 7 (Alternate Universe)
Overall Pairings: David Cook/David Archuleta, David Archuleta/Danny Noriega, David Cook/Michael Johns, one-sided Jason Castro/Danny Noriega (cause I can xD), Ramiele/???
Chapter Pairings: David A thinking about David C, Danny flirting with David A, mention of Ramiele/mystery girl
Summary: David Archuleta has always been the shy, quiet, and closeted gay kid. But when he moves to a new school, everything changes. He develops not one, but two new relationships, one with a new friend and one with his principal, who happens to already be in a relationship. When he falls for both of them, he'll have to decide which one truly is his 'one true love'.
Warnings: (not all in this chapter) Cheating, statutory rape (David A's a minor, David C definitely isn't), principal/student relationship, swearing, lots of slash aka gay sex, creepy-stalker Jason, and maybe more
Disclaimer: Pretty sure these people are actually past/current Idol contestants and not teachers/principals/students of a high school (well except David A), so this is 100% fiction. Also, title belongs to The Pink Spiders.
A/N: This chapter happens before Chapter 2, it's a continuation of 1, if that makes sense. I guess 2 was basically me getting my Flyboys muse out...
A/N 2: If there's any errors (grammar, spelling, etc) just let me know so I can correct them ASAP. And if there are any I apologize in advance, my eyes are kinda tired right now so I may've missed some.
Previous Chapters "Are you trying to kill yourself or something?" Danny stared in disbelief as he looked over David's schedule.
"No.. what'd you mean?" David gave him a confused glance.
"I mean, you have, like, one easy class out of your entire schedule. That's screaming suicide."
Ramiele just laughed. "Danny always exaggerates. Let me see that." She jerked the paper from Danny's hand and read over it, then shook her head. "Except, maybe not this time. David, seriously. AP English, AP Cal, AP US... God are you a genius or something?"
David blushed and shook his head. "No... just kinda smart I guess. I'm always in those classes, I have to be."
"I don't see why you'd have to be, you could choose easier ones." Danny laughed a bit, just joking around, but then he saw that David was serious. "Seriously? What, do your parents force you into the worst possible classes?"
"Sort of... they want me to do the best... they're only trying to help."
"Well, that sucks. Especially since we'll only be seeing each other in here and in choir. You a good singer?" Danny knew the answer already; he had to be or they wouldn’t have put him in the class. But it never hurt to ask anyways.
"Probably not," David answered with a sigh. "But I guess I was good enough."
"That must be pretty good. I'd love to hear you sing..." Ramiele rolled her eyes at Danny's obvious flirting and kicked him underneath the table. "Ow! What'd I do?"
She rolled her eyes again. "You know... stop it already." She said mouthing 'You just met him.'
David looked between the two of them, clearly confused, and was about to ask what was going on when the bell rung and stopped him. Actually it made him jump since he'd forgotten that class was almost over. All the students around them, Danny and his 'stalker', who until then had been asleep, jumped out of their seats and practically ran for the door, but Ramiele stayed back to wait on David.
"I'll show you where Calculus is, I've got that class too."
~~~~~~~
Once in class, after meeting the, as Ramiele described, 'evil math teacher', David took a seat in the back with his new friend. He was squinting to see the board, he was very used to having to sit in the front as to not be distracted, when Ramiele tapped on his shoulder.
"You don't really have to pay that much attention. All his notes are in the book, just study that before a test and you'll be fine."
"Oh...kay."
Ramiele smiled. "So, onto more important matters. Like do you like it here so far?"
"Why does everyone ask that? First the principal and now you.."
"Oh so you've already met Cookie."
"Cookie?" David bit back a laugh at the name.
"Yeah, Mr. Cook. Everyone calls him that now, ever since his boyfriend called him Cookie in front of a few kids, we all tease him about it."
"Oka.. wait, boyfriend? Mr. Cook's gay?"
Ramiele laughed, earning her a shushing sound from their teacher. "Yeah of course. Was it not obvious from the picture of him and Mike in his office?"
"I hadn't noticed it..." David couldn't help the sinking feeling he felt. He knew it was wrong, but his heart rose a little at hearing that Cook was gay, and now at hearing he was taken... wait, this shouldn't be affecting him like that, he barely knew the guy. And he was his principal. And David was straight... er, right?
"David, you okay?" Ramiele was waving her hand in front of his face to regain his attention, apparently he'd zoned out.
"Yeah, sorry. Just thinking I guess.... So, everyone here's cool with him being..like that?"
"Well not everyone, that's expected. But yeah most people are, they think he's cool, gay or not. Why?"
"Uh... just wondering." 'If they're that accepting then maybe.... no, no it's wrong... isn't it?' "... Are you okay with that? ... I mean, people who are.. like that?"
Ramiele laughed again, earning another, louder, shushing sound. "Uh, yeah. Hello, have you seen Danny?" she was obviously holding back the want to laugh again. "He's like, gayer than gay. Wow, you have bad gay-dar David."
Wait, Danny was gay too? What? ... Well... okay that made a little sense actually. At least it explained the stalker. Sort of.
It seemed like Ramiele was reading his mind. "Before you ask, Jason's bi. And pretty much in love with Danny."
"Oh..." He really didn't know what else to say, this was a lot to take in after only being here a few hours.
"One more thing and then I swear I'm done throwing shocking news on you for today."
What could it be now? David wondered, then nodded. What else could it be?
"I'm bi too. And, uh... well..." she stopped, then sighed. "Nevermind. The rest involves someone else, and she really would kill me if anyone else knew."
"..." David was sort of speechless. Okay, so far it seemed like his entire school was gay. Well, he really didn't have a problem with that, but he did make a mental note to never let his parents in on that secret. They'd die, and before they did ship him off to some happy fun go-straight school in Alaska or something. Let's not let that happen.
"You okay David?"
He shook himself from his daze again to force a smile and nod. "Yeah... just... a lot to take in, I guess."
~~~~~~
By the end of the day, David was as good as dead. Maybe Danny was right about him killing himself with all the classes... but it wasn't just that. It was what Ramiele had said too. That, and the fact that since that morning he couldn't get 'Cookie' off his mind. He smiled to himself at the thought, the nickname did sort of suit him, and not solely because of his last name. It just sort of ... fit.
David sighed as he fell onto his bed. He really shouldn’t be thinking like that. He shouldn't be thinking about the man at all, again it was so many levels of wrong. But he couldn't help it. He really hoped he'd be able to see him again soon. Wow, a student actually wanting to see his principal, a really rare occurrence. That should've been the first hint to stop all thoughts like that, but it wasn't and the thoughts flowed freely. After all, they were only thoughts, right? What could they hurt?
~~~~~~~
So... still love it? Or hate it now? Or... I don't know, have no thoughts at all other than 'you look pretty'? (opps direct Paula stab, I'm sorry... wait no I'm not). Anyways yeah... it'll get better, I promise.
