Picture time!

Picture time!

I've compiled a photo odyssey of my surgery and recovery of my leg for your enjoyment. The gore is at a minimum.

Day 3. I had just had my bandages changed because the dressing I had on was completely bled through and crusty. The nurse at the emergency room gave me a Barbie bandaid for decoration, because even though we were two adult women in that room, we were both in complete agreement that these things are important. The yellow color on my foot is the remains of the iodine they entirely covered my leg in. A bit of swelling and some pretty discoloration.

They gave me this nifty ice pack that you could just strap on and walk around with. I'm so in love with this thing. Odd sensation, though: I was so surprised at *not* feeling the metal under my skin go cold first when you applied it.

Just before getting the stitches out. I had added my own whimsy in changing bandages and was kinda digging my Hello Kitty theme... I also decided to paint my toenails the color of my leg, just for fun.

The stitches are out! Brand new scar. The doc says this is gonna be prettier than the old one. I apologize for the really crappy quality - it's kinda hard to get your camera to focus at this angle.

Front scar - also a do-over. I doubt this is gonna be much prettier than the old one. Apparently, the skin really pulls there, so there's already a bit of broadening of that scar. Oh well, definitely worth a try.

And this is what they pulled out of me. That long thingie is 11cm or approximately 4 inches. The really big screw right undeath is was the one in my joint (pulled out of front scar). Any wonder that thing bothered me? "Complications from the actual break," my ass!

And finally, on a completely unrelated note, a picture of me and my beautiful boyfriend. Please disregard the fact that I'm apparently falling out of my dress (at least it's a Donna Karan bra I'm flashing) and I have no idea what's going on with my hair. *huggles him* So pretty!

leg, sven
