Butter side up

I had such a good day! Full of those little things that magically work out just right!

I called to make sure that my mom's birthday present was in the shop. Kind of important, since her birthday is today. And it was!

I got on the train and figured I'd be able to make it back and forth on one ticket. Picked up the book, skipped through the rain in my awesome raincoat while everyone else looked downright miserable, fetched myself a Chai Tea and sauntered smugly through the crowds back to the station, enjoying my hot, soothing taste of christmas.

Got to the platform. Return train arrives in... 1 minute! This never happens. Usually return train... just left.

Got on, enjoyed my book all the way home (I'm reading X-Men 3. Train rides are suddenly too short.)

Went home and kicked back for a while, listening to the rain and catching up on some of my LJ backlog.

Got ready just in time for the parents to pick me up so we could go to dinner. This also involved searching frantically for a specific bra, as I would otherwise have to rethink my whole outfit, and finding it!

Found a parking spot just outside the restaurant!! Right in front of the door, people! Did I mention it was raining?

And proceded to have a perfectly lovely evening.

Now, here's the kicker. Earlier today I was reading an entry (that I can't find right now) about how Mercury is retrograde, and how that usually causes all kinds of havoc. The simplest plans go wrong, nothing seems to be able to go right. And then it hit me:

In a reverse way, this makes total sense. For a girl that always has the little things going wrong for her, Mercury retrograde must necessarily mean that for once, these things go right!

I'm floating through Opposite World right now!
