I had my stitches removed on Monday, and immediately felt ten pounds lighter. Which doesn't make sense, because there were only five stitches, and they obviously did not weigh two pounds each, but they were itching and pulling and bothersome.
The cuts still hurt a little bit, which is to be expected, but now that I'm done with appointments et al, I'd like to put this behind me as soon as possible and not have any more discomfort, kthnxbye.
The nurse who removed my stitches was very concerned about scarring, which, yes, I get that it's a general concern for most women, but I'm wired a little differently, I guess. I think scars are cool, and I genuinely do not care even a little to have a few more added to my extensive collection. Not that I go out of my way to acquire more - I'm not that brand of obsessive - but all the same, circumstances tend to conspire to add to my collection on a more or less regular basis.
I'm up to 12 scars now, not counting the little ones on my ankle after arthroscopic surgery, or the one in my belly button, because either are barely visible. 4 of them are facial scars, and that's totally badass, even though one of them is from that time I fought the sidewalk, and the sidewalk won. Not my finest hour. :)
Anyway, the nurse very gently applied some medical tape after removing the stitches, and assured me that it would prevent the scars from stretching (hah, I'll see that before I believe it) and I almost guffawed when she advised me to keep my belly scars out of the sun. No problem, lady! I haven't been out in the sun in a two-piece since... the aughts, I think. If then. Heh.
In other news, I'm back at work and scrambling to catch up on all that I missed while I was loopy on painkillers and well aware I wasn't doing myself any favors by trying to do work and thus probably make huge mistakes and have to re-do everything anyway. I'm doing all the really boring invoicing right now, and I have an appointment for a haircut in an hour, and I must've checked the clock 50 times in the last half hour, so this day can end now, please and thank you. Anyway. I guess I'll sweeten the deal for myself by making a cup of tea or throw in some variation by doing the dishes. Nose to grindstone, people! :)
