Guess who's coming to dinner?
So, in a rather surprising turn of events, Sven and I have just been invited to dinner - by Sven's ex' cousin and his wife!
They contacted Sven about a month ago with a inquiry to change their gas heater, which had somewhat surprised Sven as well, but hey, why not. Free entreprise, free country, amicable breakup 6½ years in the past... It wasn't *that* weird, and like Sven said, they're not actually that much in touch with Sven's ex' side of the family, so truly why not.
But the invite to dinner... that one's a surprise. I mean, there is literally nothing in the rule book that says we aren't allowed to be friends and socialize, if we so choose. Y'know, aside from the fact that I've never met them, or barely even heard of them. But Sven is a super great guy, and if that's enough reason for them to want to pick up some kind of friendship, I'm cool with giving it a whirl.
I guess we'll see how it goes. No date planned yet, just a polite, "would you like to sometime...?" And, well, if they want to invite us over, it's a lot impolite to say no, y'know?
But it IS a little weird.
