Date Me, Teacher! Italics are Yoo Geun’s thoughts
“Yoo Geun-aaaaah!” Taemin calls out happily as he walks towards the young boy who was playing with leggos on the living room floor. Umma, what do you want now? Yoo Geun looks up and Taemin picks him up. “It’s Mother’s Day!”
Mother’s Day? Yoo Geun looks back down at his blocks, unfamiliar with the topic.
“Do you know what mother’s day is, Yoo Geunnie?” Taemin asks. Not really... Does it look like I know everything? Yoo Geun shakes his head. The door bell rings, so Taemin walks towards the door happily since he knows who it is. Minho waves and enters the house when the door opens and he was wearing a big, fat grin on his face.
Appa, you’re here every single day... Don’t you have other things to do? The older male ruffles Yoo Geun’s hair and greets him.
“Minho, Yoo Geun doesn’t know what Mother’s day is,” Taemin informs as they walk into the living room to sit on the couch.
“He doesn’t? Well, then we’ll just teach him,” Taemin hands the kid to Minho. “Listen up, Yoo Geun, Mother’s Day is a special day to appreciate your umma and show her that you love everything she does and do your best to support her. You know, giving her what she gave you in return, like love. Understand?”
Love umma? Yes, I do. Yoo Geun nods affirmatively with a small smile.
“Good, so let’s make cards then!” The older one suggested as he set Yoo Geun down onto the ground. Taemin beams and agrees. Cards? I like drawing.
While drawing...
“Taemin-ah, what is that?” Minho asks as he looks over the younger one’s shoulder.
“Can’t you tell?” Taemin mused, focused on his drawing as he held the yellow crayola crayon. “They’re flowers.” Minho turns his head away, pressing his knuckles against his lips to keep himself from laughing. Yoo Geun tears his eyes from his paper and peeks at their drawings, he snickers. My drawing better!
When Taemin and Minho try to see what Yoo Geun was drawing, the little boy immediately covered it with a sneer on his chubby face. No! You guys can’t look at it yet!
“I guess we can’t look at it yet. Do you think Yoo Geun’s going to give it to his mom?” Taemin asks as he nudges Minho’s arm.
“Don’t know. But it makes me feel like I need to get my mom something.” An idea sprung. “Let’s go shopping!”
--
“I guess I’ll get my mom some roses, since she likes them.” Minho says as he browses the selection of flowers at the store. Just flowers? Why not make something from the bottom of your heart? Psh!
Yoo Geun’s curious eyes scan the huge building and spots something that makes his eyes twinkle with excitement. Is that what I think it is?! Power Rangers?! He dashes towards the toy aisle. Taemin notices this and chases after him.
Umma, buy me this! Yoo Geun points to the big box with a set of Power Ranger Action Figures on the shelf as he tugs the end of Taemin’s shirt. His big, glossy eyes were pleading. Minho approaches from behind.
“He wants that, huh?” Minho asks rhetorically with a smile. Course, I do appa!
--
As soon as they got back to Taemin’s house, Yoo Geun sprints inside into the living room with the Power Ranger box, eager to open up his gift. His small hands ripping the box open like a crazed maniac, once he got his set of rangers out; he automatically played with them-satisfied in his own little world.
“I guess he forgot all about his card now...” Taemin chuckles, sitting on the couch with Minho. Umma, appa, play with me, too! Umma can be pink ranger... I’ll be red ranger and appa can be blue ranger...
“RAAAAWR, I’m stronger than all of youuu! Blue power ranger, go!” Minho exclaims in a high-pitch voice, waving his action figure around in the air, making the Blue Ranger hit the Pink and Red Rangers. Taemin began to giggle while Yoo Geun gave his a disapproving look.
Appa... What are you doing? Why do you have use that kind of voice? My ranger is supposed to be stronger than yours, plus we’re on teams...
“Ahem... Wh-what?” Minho says in his normal voice, feeling a bit embarrassed. Yoo Geun snatches back his Blue Ranger and grabs the teddy bear with blue overalls from the couch. If appa wants to be the bad guy then here!
Yoo Geun throws him the bear and positions his Red Ranger for offensive attack. “I guess this is Dr. Evil Bear?” Minho says as he holds the toy up.
Taemin smiles. “That’s what you get for hitting the both of us.”
--
After playing with Yoo Geun for hours until night time, the two boys both relax on the couch, Taemin had his head on Minho’s thigh. “Aren’t you going to spend the day with your mom? Mother’s day is almost over.” The younger latter asked.
“She’s on vacation with my dad for the weekend, so I won’t be seeing her until tomorrow.” Minho answers back, running his fingers through Taemin’s soft hair.
“Hmm, it’s too bad Yoo Geun couldn’t spend his day with his parents.” Taemin frowns as he sits up. “Where did he go anyways? Did he fall asleep?”
Yoo Geun slowly walks out from the hallways, holding a piece of paper, he makes his way onto the couch and gets in between the two older boys. The little boy sinks into the couch to get in a comfortable positions and yawns from the playful day, lightly grasping onto the card. Taemin takes the paper and opens it, his eyes grew wide and he smiled unconsciously. There you go; I appreciate you taking care of me, umma.
“What is it?” Minho tries to sneak a peek. Yoo Geun had drawn all three of them together on it, holding hands while he was in the middle, even though it was poorly drawn it still managed to get its message across-Yoo Geun does care about them.
“How come I don’t one?” Minho pouts, nudging Yoo Geun. The sleepy boy looks up at him, and then kisses his chin. It’s not father’s day yet.
