Well, Costa Rica gave me a present. It's a parasite. I had been having problems with my stomach this week, and it was really bad yesterday, so I went to the doctor. He gave me some antibiotics, he said it should be better in a few days. But man, it sucks being sick away from home. I'm pretty lucky though, cause this is the first time I've really gotten sick here, and some people have had a lot more problems. Hopefully this is the end of it and I'll be fine til the program's over... in approximately 3 WEEKS now. I can't WAIT until my parents get here. I'm thinking about asking my mom to bring my something from home... maybe some goldfish? A caramel machiatto from starbucks? (although that probably wouldn't work so well)
Other news... I'm going to the cloud forest with my ecology class this weekend, we're stayingin an ecolodge for two nights and doing a lot of hiking and stuff like that. I'm looking forward to it, I think it'll be fun. Can't really think of anything else interesting...
Oh yeah, my trip last weekend. I went on a tour to visit Poas Volcano, the La Paz waterfall gardens, and a coffee plantation. Poas was amazing, it's an active volcano wih a huge crater (I think the largest in Ctrl america). So it'll be part of my monroe project I'm "working on" while I'm here. La Paz was pretty touristy, but beautiful. There are five waterfalls and butterfly and hummingbirg gardens. The Doka plantation was kind of boring, but we got to try lots of coffee, and our guide explained to us the entire process that the coffee goes through from plant to the store. On this plantation they still use the old methods- ie; no electricity. And the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. Mmmmmmmm coffee. I have pictures up on webshots. The group I was with was hilarious- there were two Tica girls, an older couple from Mexico, 3 guys from the states (DC and NY)... and me. As I was the only one who spoke spanish and english (besides the guide) I got to do some translating. It was fun, I actually felt like I knew something.
