HI I'M OWEN AND I LIKE CAFFEINE!!!!

...just not anymore.

I'm off of caffeine now. I think I've successfully managed to suffer through the withdrawals for 72 hours and now I'm just waiting for my energy to pick back up. I'm sleeping soundly and everything and that's quite alright, I'm just waiting for my metabolism to be back where it should be, post-caffeine. Now don't get me wrong here, kids, I'm still going to be getting all amped the fuck up on the joe from time to time (there's a window in downtown Burlington that can't be looked through without caffeine in hand, one that I hold very dear and am very territorial about), but I'm just not going to depend on something every day to keep me from feeling bad.

And that's my reason for doing it. I hope I don't seem like a different person off of caffeine because up until very recently I had an extreme habit, and I've come to know a lot of people here in Burlington only on that habit, never off it. But I find it curious and just a bit disturbing that everyone asks, "Why would you do that?" when I offer my feeble excuse for being either a)sluggish, b)slow, or c)glacial. We consume too much coffee or caffeine, whichever you choose to go with on that issue.

Everyone, drop your books and go out and BUY House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Credit to Anonymous for that suggestion, she passed the suggestion along to me. You need to OWN a copy of it, though, because it begs for you to write in its margins (margins are double-sized to accomodate it) and become a part of the story, yourself, via that. It's a very intriguing book and I just have to say that you need NEED to own it. I'm rarely that emphatic about art, but this is one such occasion where it's warranted.

Thanks, and enjoy your meal.

-Owen
