Dear Gawd, It's Spring At Last!

You know, it kinda weirds me out a bit to be walking around outside in short sleeves when there are still mounds of snow all over the place. Sort of the same kind of feeling I got those couple of really sunny days this winter when I would put on my scarf, hat, gloves, and heavy winter coat, then top it all off with my sunglasses. It's an odd mixing of worlds, IMHO.

Anywho, today is the first day I have seen fifty degrees since I left Florida after Xmas. Feels good, feels mighty good. If only I didn't have several tons of boxes stacked in front of the porch doors, I'd open everything up and air the place out. I'm sure it's pretty rank by now after so many months of being kept shut tight against the winter winds and snow.

It's simply amazing what a blue sky and warmer temps will do to the psyche -- I swear today I don't even notice the bare trees and brown grass everywhere. All I can see are birds and sunshine and... potholes. Lots and lots of potholes. Oh, and a line of cars at the local carwash that, seriously, went around the building and down the road a bit. I have promised my car a thorough inside-and-out cleaning once we get back to Florida. I think there are some places inside where the snow never actually melted.

Well, I have a friend coming over to help with the packing today. Actually, she is going to grade essays while I pack. I know she thought it was kinda weird when she offered to help me pack and I asked her to just sit there and make small talk with me while I work, but really all I need is just a person there to keep me on task and keep me from getting bored. It's the same function my mom served for me when I was packing to come here, and my cousin did when I was unpacking. What can I say? I find it hard to stay motivated when I'm here alone.

Okay, gonna get some boxes together then. Happy Spring!
