Now, 'day off' is a little misleading. For those of you who don't know I do a lot more than teach a class or tutor some students here. We get up around 7:30 and go eat breakfast. At 8:20 we have to be in our first meeting of the day (staff and students). After that we spend the rest of the morning working with about 4 students trying to get them through Math, Reading, Writing, and a Research project.
That goes until noon. At noon we have another meeting (staff only this time). Then we eat lunch. Wednesday and Thursday we have meetings during lunch. After this I teach a course from 1:30 to 3. Now we teach one course to one group of students for a week. Then we teach a different course to a different group of students the next week. After that I have a break until around 5:30 (except when I'm holding meetings with my environmental concerns group). I tend to play racquetball during this break.
Then we go and eat a leisurely dinner. At 7 things start up again. Dependent on the evening we have a different activity that usually lasts until 9 (except on Tuesdays when it lasts until the large group event is over and Fridays when it lasts until 11). After that we go back to the dorm and monitor them there. They have to check in with their cluster leader by 10:30 and have to be in their room by 11:30 (except on Friday/Saturday/Sunday and sometimes Tuesday).
And that's my day. On the weekends we do the weekend package things which I think I described earlier. So when I say today was my 'day off' I mean that once I was done teaching and holding my own meetings I didn't have to go to the evening activity or check my students.
So this evening Rachel and Kirsten and I went out. We went to a nice restaurant, went grocery shopping, went for a drive, and then went out for coffee. After that Kir and I dropped Rachel off so she could go visit her friend and Kir and I went and hung out down by the river. She brought her guitar and we had a lot of fun just talking and catching up. We really hadn't had any time to do that since we started this summer.
So there you go. My day in a nut shell. I hope everyone had as nice an evening as I ended up having.
ub,
kirsten
