Marie Howe's
The Good Thief is a much earlier collection than
What the Living Do which I read in May. The poems are less clear, the meanings seemingly buried in mystery and metaphor. Good work in here, and I plan to re-read it while teaching my class this fall.
"Isaac" and "Veteran's Day" both look at sacrifice, a bit awry, and are well worth study, I think.
I also admired "From Nowhere."
