"The problem folks are the ones who don't believe in the religion so much as in its trappings. They say the right prayers and go to the church on Sunday. They listen to the local priest and sing the appropriate hymns when called for. They love their Bible (oh yes they do!), and they can quote you passages at length without really understanding the meaning behind them. They are practicing religion, a higher-order function of the human brain, with all the sophistication of south pacific cargo cults.
They have come to believe not in God, not in Jesus, not in the message behind those personifications of the faith -- All they really believe in is the structure. After all, you can't reach out and touch God, but your Bible's always close to hand."

I see that all the time to be honest, People who are so wrapped up in their faith, and in the structure of their faith, the laws, the bindings, the Bible as an end all know all to their faith. They forget about what one of the core principles of religion is, to live your life as a good person, and to do the right things in the end.
I'm not one to get embroiled into faith arguements, anyone who has ever talked with me about faith knows my veiws, but I feel that people get so wrapped up in a book, a single book of farfetched stories. Only the Die hard believers with a complete lack of common sense don't understand these are messages and morals for life, not true stories to be taken literally. Those that cannot interpret their faith, and rely on a literal translation of the bible are the ones who pour their faith onto you, attack you with it like the plauge, and live a sheltered and false life. Too many people I see live their lives for their death, for that one moment when judgement shall supposedly be passed on you. Thats no way to live a life, thats a waste of a life.
