Friends, dear citizens, my neighbors, I know some of you might be a bit nervous about all these newcomers. Well, I swear to you that I am entirely dedicated to this town's safety and prosperity. Outlaws, whether they come in bands or a lone wolf, will be rounded up by our good sheriff and his deputies, and civilization will win out over lawlessness. Fortune will continue to smile on our town as we look to a bright and rich future.
[Private to Sheriff Prefect and the Deputies]
Now, I can't tell you boys what to do [he's just in charge of paying your wages], but I hear tell rumors of a vicious band of criminals headed our way. Between that and this ex-Marshall criminal maybe hidin' out in my town, I imagine y'all will have your plates full. I recommend that Mr. Franklin Mott take care of the easy stuff in town--drunks, domestic disputes, petty quarrels and the like--while the rest of you boys focus on bigger things.
[Yeah, he wants the most bribe-able deputy handling whatever problems might arise between Reaver's folks and the ranchers.]
[Private to Sylveste]
Crawled out of the bottle yet today, dear brother?
[Private to his lackeys, Mr. Foreman and Mr. O'Brien]
I want some more information on that Summers woman. I don't like what I've been hearing and I want to get enough on her background to either bring her to court or run her out of town. We don't need her sort here, causing trouble.
And one of you deliver a letter and flowers to Miss Atia.
[The Letter to Atia]
Dear Miss Atia,
Another humble token of my esteem.
Vivamus, mea Atia, atque amemus.
