After some questioning, Ardent admitted that the symbol he drew was a...curse, for lack of a better word. As Ardent describes it, it hunts whomever was responsible for the death of the Dwarf who drew it until the guilty party is killed. Based on Omega's description and Elric's experiences, it appears to do this through some very subtle psychic manipulation. It will hound the Barge population until one of us kills Elric.
Ardent claims that there is no way to stop it. [He feels ever so slightly guilty. After all Elric got cursed saving him. But given the choice of being further seriously mutilated or letting a near stranger die as a result of rescuing him, he'll take rescue and the stranger's death, thanks.]
