I'm giving him a week to calm his ass down then I'll try to talk to him like someone rational. In the meantime, I need to use your lab space if you don't mind.

I'm actually thinking he's acting a little bit psychotic about it right now. You might want to keep an eye on that.

Some pepper spray and I might play around with some non-lethal weapons. I need to put in a request to the Admiral and see how that goes.

It's just that the library is important to him. Sacred. And beyond that he was concerned that I wouldn't keep my word to him. That problem at least has now been settled and although he's still uneasy, he's willing to be reasonable and give you three a chance.

Actually, I came to a realization yesterday that I think will help me in my dealings with him. I think I know what needs to be done.

I already knew about his religious beliefs, and I know he'll protect the books. But Narvin- The library isn't a temple. It wasn't put here to be one, it was put here for reference and helping the inmates. I think he's putting people off using it in his efforts to keep it secure.

I hope you did. Did you miss that bit there where he threatened you?

Not so much as Coyolxauhqui's threats of heart sacrifice, I think. I told him that accommodations for his beliefs can't violate the rights of others. I'm trying to keep him from feeling like a victim of the cultural majority, but I'm not a damned diplomat. Or at least not a very good one.

In the course of my career, half my co-workers have threatened me at one point or another. Every President I've worked for has threatened me. You threatened me during that last memory crisis. I'm on guard, but since the threat was non-specific and in response to a breach of contract that didn't happen, I'm not too concerned yet. I do think need to remind him who's warden, though.

No, but she's been pretty responsible until the threats. And they both had been until Ardent threw a shit fit for no good reason. I've actually not seen him acting like this up until now.

Yeah, but there was an emergency and there was a reason to threaten you. And it turned out I was wrong. That threat's a bid of power. [And Kay is worried about blackmail, not physical force.]

I'm going to meet with him in a few days. Maybe then I'll be able to find out what has him so worked up, whether it's just the library or something else. For all I know, maybe he was more troubled by recent events than he's let on.

I'm not blaming you for what you did. I think that other me probably deserved it. He was even more duplicitous than I am. I'm just explaining why I don't want to react too hastily.
