So, since I last wrote, I made an appointment at the local Planned Parenthood to FINALLY get my blood drawn.
I had been once before and they had to poke me so many times and they didn't find any veins. It runs in my family to have small and deep veins, so I wasn't entirely thrilled by the prospect of getting poked again.
But they finally were able to get a vein in my wrist, and as much as I thought it was going to hurt, it really didn't.
So I got my results last week and my TSH levels are elevated. Normal range is around .4-4.5. Mine are at 12.56. :/
Also my cholesterol is borderline high at 228 total. Partly because my thyroid isn't working correctly.
My blood glucose levels were fine though, thank god for that.
But yeah, it seems I might be hypothyroid. Which is not surprising at all considering my aunt and uncle are, and my cousin and grandmother were hyperthyroid.
Somehow my mother managed to avoid inheriting that particular problem.
So, I suppose that's a bit of... I wouldn't say GOOD news, but news about health anyway.
I've enrolled in my boyfriend's health insurance program and once that goes through I will be seeing a doctor to start evaluating and treating.
And that's all that is really new.
