I saw that car, and I thought "Quimby". It's the sort of name that can be a girl or a boy.
And, shoot, kid. At the rate you're going, I'm going to be asking you for a job. Ooh! I had lunch with a couple of fellas today about a paid marketing internship at their design/interactive shop. I'm a little intimidated, 'cause 1) I don't know interactive, 2) they're nine guys mostly in their mid-20s (I'm a girl, y'know), 3) I'd be doing the writing and one of their things is a megachurch. I ain't down with Jesus, Steven, and I don't want to be steppin' on toes inadvertently. Ah, phoo. No need to hassle you with this crap when I'm sure you've got your own Actual Big Deal Crap hassling you.
By the bye, did you not like Juno? Please say you didn't. I feel like I may have turned uncool for not liking it.
Yeah, Quimby is just one of those names that has the letters lined up that so it's fun to say, and sort of powerful. Powerful like saying all the letters in a cuss word is powerful. I mean, really, I think if I ever hit a stressful moment and said, "Dammit, Quimby!" it would alleviate all problems.
And, no, I do care! Admittedly I only watched the first 20 minutes online, so it didn't get the benefit of the whole movie-going experience, but I just found all the forced idiosyncratic dialog to be painful. The idea of the movie is fine, and Michael Cera is excellent, but everything seemed pushed to such a ridiculous extreme that it just seemed dumb. But, oh, I don't know, I thought Garden State was over-hyped, as well, and the entire world seems to disagree with me on that, too.
It's fine though. the only reason I like either of these movies is that the lead female characters remind me of myself. Except I wasn't pregnant in high school and I didn't fall in love with a guy at the neurologist office. I like both movies because they're quirky and a little painful.
i didn't really care for Juno. i thought it was cute and quirky- but it did seem a bit forced. gotta love george michael and everything he does.
i've personally done some work with churches (decent work, i might add). it's kinda weird, but it helps you with your picking-up-on-your-clients'-direction skills if you're able to work with different types. and pssssh, i wouldn't think sex is an issue when you're dealing with folks in that age group. you're a smart, handy gal- folks will respect you.
i ended up getting another car (1990 mercury sable for the same $500 price tag). fewer things wrong with it, more comfortable, the HEATER works (we texans have been having sub 35 degree days for the past weeks, you know), etc. etc.
i'll post a picture of it once i get it home. glad to see things are looking promising, elizabeth cason! keep up the good work-
