i really liked the way you approached this topic and i must say that i agree with many if not all of your points. i even might go so far as to say that i agree with your plan for marital (or lack thereof) responsibility and family planning. only thing i really have to add is that as ideal as it sounds, i just think emotions and human nature's predisposition to conflict would make it hard for a system like this to flourish. i feel that humans have a need to possess and be possessed, in primarily an emotional sense that is. the norm you describe sounds a lot like the "hippie" generation's ideals of free love and open marriages. great in theory but in practice something that would just be super tricky to pull off.

just my thoughts...engaging post annie. it's helping with the work day, thanks.

sorry but i completely disagree.

I think the problem with people today is that they don't understand what FOREVER means...

People get married and expect the puppy love to last forever and it is pretty rare that it does... but does that mean you shouldn't make a commitment to one person? no. It means you should get through the problems and stop expecting to be able to just toss the marriage out the window. I am not saying there are a lot of good reasons to get a divorce, there are and sometimes it is just better that way. Having kids especially with someone you are married to is very important and getting a divorce affects the child too, tossing them around to whom ever is going to fuck them up.

Sorry, I have intense feelings on this issue and I have personally experienced it.
