Doing just that once the young queen arrived, Cid couldn't help but be floored by how stately this beautiful young maiden is. Unlike the horrid shrew that hails from Dalmasca, this young queen certainly possessed a beauty that outshines the allure of any Dalmascan bloom. It was almost a shame compare the two queens to each other, especially since Lady Alexandros XVII seemed to possess a more womanly visage unlike that Dalmascan girl. These two were as different as night and day, Garnet being the night and Ashelia being the day.

Watching at just how politely his lord addressed the young queen, Cidolfus opted to allow his madness to quell for now. Ever since he was tainted by Venat's venomous whispers, the good doctor had some difficulties keeping such madness under lock and key but this didn't mean he did not possess basic common sense.

"Tis truly an honor to make your acquaintance, Your Majesty." He quickly said with a deep bow. Upon standing straight again, it was then that the doctor noticed the beautiful gem that lied upon Garnet's chest. Making a quick mental note to speak of this gem later to Vayne, Cidolfus only smiled sweetly at Queen Alexandros before glancing towards his lord.

This was going to be an very interesting trip.

Garnet returned the good-natured greeting with a smile, and a tilt of her head. However, when he began his flowery introductions, she barely restrained herself from rolling her eyes. 'Sublime', he said. She gave him a joking swat to the arm. "Oh, stop that!" she insisted, though, she couldn't fight the gentle rosy hue that colored her cheeks.

But to his private request, she sobered a bit. "I'm sure something can be arranged." she replied just as quietly before turning her attention fully to the one Vayne introduced as Dr. Cidolfus.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Doctor," she greeted, with a small tilt of her head, "I apologize, had I known you were coming, I'd have had a room prepared. I hope you don't mind the delay."

Stepping back from the men, her chin held high, every inch the Perfect Hostess, she beckoned them towards the palace. "But please, come inside, it's too cold to loiter out here."

"No, no! There is no need to apologize, milday. My arrival to Gaia was rather sudden at best, no need to apologize at all." Dr. Cidolfus was quick to reply with a seemingly embarrassed smile. Allowing his lord to walk before him in a typical subservient manner, Cid decided to whisper a faint compliment about the queen to Vayne. "She is so charming." He said with a bold smirk as his eyes graced over the young queen's form.

The doctor would have followed that compliment with a quick mention of the pendant Queen Alexandros wears but he chose not to since they weren't alone. Her guards would have surely overheard such a comment and Cid didn't wish to ruin Lord Vayne's chance in getting to know his future bride.

Garnet's playful swat drew a genuine and full smile from the emperor. While he would not lay claim to any boasts of being lovestruck, he was quite fond of her. There was a mutual respect between them, as well as a friendship, and were he to be honest, it was a relief to be able to relax (much as he was able) in the presence of those he felt less need to play the role of composed emperor.

Taking Cid's observation as the man's approval, Vayne settled in to escort Garnet within, all the while feeling quite satisfied with his progress on all fronts. "I do apologize for the sudden guest list, Garnet. I will suffer whatever punishment you choose to mete out for impinging on your estate," he told her with the faintest hints of amusement. Not that he was not sincere, but there was an air of playfulness that seldom exhibited itself in more politically charged situations.

"You don't need to apologize! I said you're always welcome in Alexandria, and I meant it!" smiling warmly, she glanced back at the Doctor. He was certainly a sight different from the doctor who had tutoried her growing up, but there was something about the glasses, the way he held himself, something vaguely eccentric that reminded her of Doctor Tot.

"And might I add, any friend of yours is a friend of mine."

"Your majesty, shall I send for some tea?" came the voice of one chamber maid as they entered the palace proper.

Garnet turned, dark hair trailing behind her. "Yes, please, and have it sent up to the sitting room in the west wing."

With a bow to the queen and her guests, the maid retreated, and Garnet turned her attention back to the two men. "I hope your trip was pleasant. Are things going well in Wutai?"

"Quite pleasant, made all the better by the welcome upon arrival," he assured her. Naturally, Vayne was referencing Garnet's welcome, as opposed to the rather scathing one he had received upon encountering Ashe and her subsequent attempt to give birth right in front of him. Weren't women supposed to be relegated indoors once that close to their time? That thought was promptly put away so he could focus his attention and energy on his hostess. "Yes indeed, quite well. I believe we have completely expelled the pirates from Wutai proper, and located the area they are using as a base of operations."

He glanced to Cid, by way of referencing him to Garnet. "With the great fortune of my dear Cid's arrival, I believe it to be only a matter of time before we have eradicated their threat fully and permanently. He is the creator of that brilliant stone I gave you. Should he be able to find adequate materials, he believes that he might continue producing them here, both to use defensively, and possibly as a power source."

"You have my eternal thanks, Your Majesty." Cid replied to the queen before the servant arrived to inquire about the tea.

Dr. Cidolfus noted the playful bantering between the young queen and his lord as he lingered within the background to allow the two some time to talk amongst themselves. He was quite charmed by the sight before him since a genial Vayne Carudas Solidor is truly a feat to behold. If the doctor wasn't so sure about Vayne's plot to use this queen to gain a political footing in this world, Cid would have assumed that the Solidor heir truly did carry a torch for the beautiful Queen Alexandros.

However, such thoughts would be pushed to the wayside once Vayne's gaze returned to rest upon him. "Ah, you offer me far too much praise." He replied with a slightly humored tone, even though he agrees fully with his lord's sentiments and praise. "To create manufactured nethicite within this realm shall be a daunting task but if possible, it will be more helpful as a defensive tool against all those who wish to do Wutai and it's populace harm."

Garnet glanced between them both curiously. The 'nethicite' as he'd called it, was currently on her drawing desk in her private quarters. Frequently, she carried it with her, but some days it just didn't seem necessary. Now, to hear them talk about it, she was... well, almost confused.

"You mean, it's something you can actually make? Forgive my ignorance... I had thought it naturally occurring," she replied. "And how can something that functions to absorb magic, be used as a power supply?"

"Yes it can," he replied. "Although the particulars are beyond my ken. I am a man of letters, rather than science. The magicite it is crafted from is indeed naturally occurring and mined. However, beyond that, you would have to ask the genius himself."

He clapped a hand down on Cid's shoulder, before telling Garnet in a conspiring tone, "Although do not feel too ill at ease if you too find yourself stunned with the explanation. I find it easier to simply use the technology." Another touch of the playful air which reigned thus far.

Chuckling lightly at the Queen's confusion, Cidolfus couldn't help but wonder if this young beauty could actually understand the complicated process of creating nethicite from the natural form of magicite. Most scientists in Draklor still seemed rather stunned by the strange properties held within magicite even though they study it daily. The doctor had no high hopes for Queen Alexandros but he did at least hoped that the girl could understand some of his scientific bantering at a certain degree.

"If I am to explain what nethicite is, then I might as well speak about it's natural form which is magicite, as well." He quickly said before choosing the right words to explain this magical phenomenon.

"You see, magicite are stones containing magical powers or rather are stones that are physical manifestation of the powerful Mists that lurks within the Four Yagds. Magicite can be created and used in various ways, such as Spellstones used for the preparation and workings of magicks, Skytones that are used for giving flight to airships and Memstones that can record sounds and visions seen by their owners. Though their color, shape and size may differ, these factors have no bearing upon the quality of the stone." Frowning a little since he realized how long-winded this explanation is, the doctor decided to get straight to the point before Vayne shoots him a mildly annoyed glance.

"In short, manufactured nethicite is very similar to magicite for it gains his power from the Mist. However, without a suitable power source to feed their hunger, these stones are utterly useless." He let out a distressed sigh. "I can try my best to utilize the stones I possess but I desperately seek a worthy power source. Nethicite drains the energy from the magical properties nearby it. With the magics absorption, it can actually fuel ships with the energy that radiates from it."
