The change in scenery had been sudden. He hadn't thought much of the pink haze that had touched the skies of Gaia since his arrival; as far as he knew, that was perfectly normal -- but that sudden brightness, followed by the total lack of it? That wasn't normal at all, and now that the haze had cleared, he could see he was no longer with Raine and Brooke, but instead...
He shook his head to clear it. It was his old room in Winhill, the abandoned house next to Raine's bar that he had taken over when it was clear nobody else was going to claim it. The room was as he remembered it before he left for his unknown and ultimate destination of Esthar. Small, cramped, messy, with a few boxes of ammunition left open on the bedside table next to an empty water glass and a wind-up alarm clock.
Was he really home? This wasn't the last thing he remembered, but... who cared. He was back in Winhill, and that meant that Raine and Ellone would be next door. He grinned to himself and raced down the stairs, finding the kitchen empty and still riddled with bullet holes as it had been for as long as he could remember. He all but tore the front door off his hinges as he made his way outside.
Yep. Winhill. Empty. ... well, that was just as he remembered it, too.
