What she saw wasn't what she'd wanted.
Diving back into the castle, she started yelling out as many orders as she could as quickly as she could while she ran for the front gate. She needed to be outside where she could protect the town. The castle would be fine. It had its own defense.
"All able-bodied people assemble outside! We have to protect the town! Moogles!" A part of her hated to just call them by species, but she didn't have time to call them by name. "Submerge the castle! NowShe was ( ... )

"Celes!" She tried to get her attention, though in the chaos, it was likely Terra's cry wasn't heard. Nonetheless, the green-haired woman did her best to catch up to her friend. She would reach her before the swarm did, whatever it took.

"Ready to help me test out my new abilities?"

"Guards, to me! Form ranks around the entrances! We need to secure every advantage we have! Get those who cannot fight to safety! And by the Warring Triad, don't be stupid about your actions! Pick your shots, line up your attacks! I won't have anyone getting killed out here, got it?!"
Those within earshot nodded and scrambled to obey, passing the message on to anyone around. Within minutes, the town itself had begun mobilizing and Celes struck into another mistodon, not waiting to see if any straggling soldiers would be stupid enough to question her.

Quickly, she summoned her bolts of light and sent them in the direction of their foes. Bombarded by her volley, some were felled, but of course it couldn't be that simple. More kept approaching, and Terra glanced around frantically as they did, trying to see if she could spot Lufene or whoever else was the source of the attack. Her attention could be diverted for long, though, and she sent another volley as soon as the others came in range.

"Choose wisely!" she called, aiming her words over her shoulder for those soldiers still within range. She knew well the kind of stress this would put on them all. "Pick your targets and aim well. If you need healing, fall back and get healed! Your lives are worth more than recklessly throwing yourself into battle!"
Said the one who planned on sticking it out until she met her second death.

Celes' attack caught her attention, though there wasn't any time to comment or ask about it. Still, that sword attack had been very useful and Terra only hoped she could repeat such actions as long as they were needed. For her part, she tried to stay in the air, leaping often and striking with either bouts of Holy or warding off blows with her summoned tornadoes.
"Celes! Watch out!" She quickly shouted that after noticing a creature moving into Celes' blind spot, trying to blast it before it reached her friend.

"Don't worry about me!" she called to Terra, knowing the other girl wouldn't like seeing that she was hurt at all. "It's just a scratch! Save your energy for the swarm!"

"There's too many of them!" Celes wasn't someone to give up in defeat, so she'd keep fighting, but even she knew when a situation looked bad. "Fall back!" They still had distance before they'd hit the town's less guarded interior, so she wasn't worried about allowing the monsters to penetrate the town. If they moved back even a few feet, they'd have other soldiers that much closer to help guard their backs.

Unfortunately, Terra was so zealous in the task that she failed to notice the mistodon that was closing in on her. Its Mist attack caught her at the worst possible moment, and she cried out as that dark cloud of energy swirled around, draining her.

"Terra!" she cried, switching her sword to her other hand so she could reach out to be sure Terra was okay. Unfortunately, she wasn't given long, taking a blow from another enemy with her shield. "How badly are you hurt?"

There's a quick glance to Celes, naturally deferring to her leadership. She was a former general, after all. If there was a chance of saving the situation, Terra was certain Celes would know what to do. In the mean time, she returned to launching shards of ice at the creatures.

Something powerful...she could do that. Terra nodded and then focused. Fire magic came naturally to her, and thus she decided to rely on it now. When Celes was about to use Stock Break again, Terra was ready. A moment later, her Firaga spell erupted around their foes.
