Sabin made some last minute adjustments to his armor before tightening the final strap on the Godhand he'd received after the events in Memoria. His footsteps had him walking quickly toward the gangplank of the airship as some instinct had the Prince pulling out his Skyphone to ensure that it was fully charged. When he was assured that the device was charged, Sabin marched with purpose toward the shaking earth below the vessel.

It was his second time coming to the particular Shrine that was set out before them so they had some sort of advantage in that respect. However, without the aid of Locke to warn them of traps along the way, there was no knowing how much trouble the three of them would be in. His face was settled into a mix of grim and serious as his feet touched the ground which rumbled in protest. It seemed that the Shrine and Sabin itself had a mutual dislike of each other.

As he looked over his shoulder, Sabin braced himself against the rumbling while he waited for his companions to disembark. He turned around to wave to the crew that was beginning to gather at the entrance before giving his knuckles a customary crack. The way in would be difficult but as long as the three of them worked together, things would hopefully be fine.

"I never thought I'd be coming back to this godforsaken place," he murmured.

"It must be." Edgar himself was looking particularly grim, his eyes narrowed against the light that shone here almost as brightly as the expansive desert of Figaro. He was used to the glare, but at this moment it seemed rather ominous. "I haven't been here yet myself - which strikes me as a failing on my part in light of the current situation."

Locke, Sabin, and Terra had come here, on his request, searching for clues about the mirror, so at least they had that intelligence about the place and weren't going in totally blind. And even with as much of a lech as Edgar could be, he wasn't thinking about hitting on the attractive girl at his side - at least not yet. The situation was still too dire for such actions. He did, however, place the hand that wasn't carrying his autocrossbow under Yuna's arm, steadying her against the shaking - both he and Sabin were built much more solidly and could take it more than she could. "Lean against me if you need to - we must get inside." He nodded at the crack in the roots ahead, then began walking with steady strides in that direction, keeping his legs less rigid than normal to absorb some of the rumbling and shocks.

Edgar's a pretty decent guy but you won't likely hear Sabin praising his brother out loud too often. The Prince looked over his shoulder at Yuna and gave the Summoner a reassuring smile before taking the lead. He marched with purpose toward the entrance of the Shrine as he allowed his body time to absorb the shocks that went coursing through it. For the second time in his life, Sabin felt like he was never going to stop quaking.

The minute that Sabin's feet stepped inside the shrine, he looked back at his brother and Yuna with a confident grin. "Well, now that we can hear ourselves think, what's the plan?"

Sabin-Edgar-Yuna then? Only ...not incest-y. sonoffigaro August 4 2010, 10:11:41 UTC
There was no way to make this easy.

"RUN!"

The moment the first of them had set foot on the floor of the entrance, the solid stone block had quickly risen to the ceiling to crush them against the roof, the block ahead of them in the wall also sliding over just as quickly to smash them against the opposite. They'd just walked into a deathtrap.

Being a dragoon, this wasn't as much of a problem for Edgar as he could jump very well and almost manipulate the winds, but he had to protect Yuna as well. "Keep your head down! Don't stop moving!" He'd pull her along with him if he had to, but the entire system was going so fast that one missed step would mean complete annihilation. Edgar jumped from stone to stone, barely setting his feet down before rushing to the next.

"Keep going Yuna, you're doing fine! Stay with Edgar!"

Sabin was attempting to hold the moving slabs for the young woman before moving ahead. It was a foolish manoeuvre and would likely get him killed one of these days but he wasn't about to sit idly by and let one of his companions be turned into a pancake. Before long, he'd managed to make it through the first trap of the Shrine.

It didn't feel any better the second time around.

"SABIN! Get moving!" He was not watching his brother get crushed to death! If only he'd brought a string of explosives but it was too late for second thoughts now - nothing else he could do would help. And they had no healer.

Fortunately, the hallway was not very long - difficult, fast, and insane, but not long - and Edgar arrived at the other side, dragging Yuna, then jerked to a stop abruptly to catch his breath. "I swear... Sabin... if you do that again... you're joining Locke in the dungeon."

He was still under the impression that the treasure hunter was where he'd put him...

Thankfully for Edgar and Yuna, Sabin had no intentions of getting crushed. He leaped quickly from slab to slab before landing just in front of Yuna with a confident grin. Even as he shrugged his shoulders at his brother's threat, the Prince marched purposefully to the front of their small group, intent on leading the way.

"It's this way."

There IS more than one entrance, after all... sonoffigaro August 11 2010, 03:42:38 UTC
If Sabin wanted to go in front, Sabin could go in front. Edgar just shook his head and looked at Yuna, giving her a look that probably said they should humor him in his... Sabin-ness. But now that they were inside, Edgar removed the spear from his back, keeping the autocrossbow in his other hand, and started walking.

The shrine was dark - not much of a surprise, considering it was underground - but not as dark as he'd expected. The king glanced around for a second before focusing on the center of the shrine, with its table for the mirror and a little roof above that-

Before the guardian of the shrine was suddenly there, looking menacing as it folded its skeleton arms and began to laugh.
