Comfortably situated in a desert by the sea sat the charming nation of Figaro. Just beyond her expansive deserts, a tall mountain range jutted into the sky, and then beyond that lay the site of the Earth Shrine. Three triangular rocks rose out of the sand, marking the location of the shrine, yet these were hardly necessary. The constant jarring and quaking of the earth served as a far more attention-grabbing measure.
So hazardous the shaking grounds, the airship carrying the team could not land. "It's just not safe. I can't put her down on ground that won't stand still," he insisted, as he turned about, flying to a safe distance away, nearer the mountains. Once he was certain the ground would not be shaking beneath his craft, the pilot put down to let his passengers off. "Good luck to you! We'll be here when you're done."
Off in the distance, across the sands stood the entrance to the shrine. It opened right into the very bowels of the earth, beneath two great tree roots which crossed over the opening. They were as thick as a man was tall, with bark eroding from the passing grains of sand. Beneath those roots, the aperture waited, dark and dry.
