It is an interesting and beautiful homage to Rose, but I don't think it has anything to do with the next Christmas special. The Doctor crashed into the Titantic, an ocean liner from the early 20th century. The S.S. Rose is from much before that.

Thank you for finding the picture though, it is lovely.

In fairness, DT has stated that RTD specifically tosses out things in order to play with the Plot-minded fans that like to track story arcs - and intentionally take them positively nowhere.

yes we saw this last series with the moon referneces, and the royal referneces scattered everywhere. I think the Rose references were just there to show us Rose was still on the fore front of the Doctor's mind. however, in series one #9 says he was once on the titanic, and we see a picture or #9 before he boarded. i wonder how they will deal with that?

I thought 9 stopped the family he was in the picture with from going on the Titanic? Maybe I need to rewatch series one, haha.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw him lift over the life preserver thing!

I just hope that the Rose references won't stop in Series 4.

I concur! I want there to be a runnin Rose allusion throughout... The writers made the viewers way too invested in her too throw her out of the story.

Well, I don't know. Like one of the commenters said, the Titanic was a whole 'nother breed of ship and the S.S. Rose seems very 17th century. More Will and Elizabeth than Jack and Rose ya know?

But I have to ask, WHERE DO PEOPLE GET THESE SPECULATIONS AND SPOILERS?!

my goodness. i look and loko and look and I never get anywhere.
