Mary Lillian Bondy Bond, born in 1935, passed away March 27th while visiting with family in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by five sisters, a sister-in-law and a brother: A. Arthur Bondy, Jr. (Thelma), Marguerite B. Bondy, Catherine B. Paine (Charlie), Pauline B. Hernandez (John), Gayle B. Brown (Carl, Jr.), Alice B. Hill (Fred), and Adelaide Bondy; preceded by her parents, Auguste A. Bondy, Sr. and Annie Scott Hays Bondy; preceded by her siblings David J. Bondy, Anne B. Triche and Patricia B. LaCour. She is survived by her five children: John A. Bond, III, Paul J. Bond, Stephanie Atwood, Timothy Bond, and Charlotte Bond; and nine grandchildren.

Mary, a native of New Roads, LA, graduated in 1958 from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in home economics and subsequently completed her Masters of Nutrition also from Louisiana State University. She retired from a distinguished career as a nutritional counselor to people at risk in both Louisiana and Georgia. Mary taught high school, but was most pleased with successfully raising five children. Many of Mary’s friends and family have her artwork, mostly acrylic and water color paintings, by which to remember her favorite hobby. Few know of how often she would take or send her children and dearest friends to remote locations to get the ideal picture of a light house, beach or seascape to keep her sufficiently inspired. Mary loved animals and rescued several cats and dogs.

Mary is most deeply missed by her family and friends. A memorial of her life will be celebrated in New Roads, LA, in June. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
