As for the reasoning why, now that I think about it, that I put those uncontrolleds on there, was both to buy down the action of both to a free action, and because... well... boosts as a free action are really, really powerful. Not that I think Nick would ever actually abuse such functionality, I figured it would keep things more on the level... especially given that he can essentially make a knowledge check as a free action, take 20 as a free action, and get a 40 with the right skill boosted. Obviously, I figure all things being equal, when he encounters a situation where he would need a skill, you as the computer would grant him the nessecary skill until the task can be accomplished and then you'd dump the skill and move on. Likewise with the super strength... when stuck in a grapple or in a dramatically appropriate scene where gaining an effective strength bonus of 25 for lifting is called for, I imagine you'd just let him have it.
Of course... there is always that chance for technology to malfunction. >:) The look on his face when you give him the skill Underwater Basket Weaving instead of disable device would be priceless.
