Sorry that I skipped a couple of calendar days there; we've been working hard to clean up the backyard (and I've been catching up on laundry). The yard is looking better, and we'll be getting our first vine-ripened tomato tomorrow, I think.
Well, I'm going to choose one from the shows I watch/ed and love.
NCIS
Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard
He is an eccentric. Yeah. I like eccentrics. Very old school in some ways, very perceptive, and he's a silver-haired hottie. (Hey, when you're pushing 50, some of these older guys look pretty good!) I like the bowtie. I loved his mother. Really I did. I just wish they would give him some nice, pretty, stable woman around his own afe who actually finds him attractive just the way he is. (Instead of these younger, bubble-headed bimbos who want to change him... he does NOT wear a four-in-hand!)
Thunderbirds
Gordon Tracy
Smart, funny, laid-back, but when it comes to rescuing people, or laying his life on the line, he's a professional all the way. I feel bad for him at times because he doesn't go out on rescues often, but when he's needed, his actions are all I could ask for. The fact that he's unlike all of his other brothers with this light ginger hair makes him attractive, too. In a lot of my stories, he has major parts to play, and sometimes even gets the girl!
Jeff Tracy
One of the prevailing tropes surrounding this silver fox is that he's a martinet, cold to his boys, sending them off into danger without caring at all.
I just don't see it.
Yeah, he's gruff at times, but he can also laugh at himself. He's got a military background, and it shows, but he's generous, and he does feel for his boys. I take the fact that John is in Thunderbird Five so much as a reflection on his creator, Gerry Anderson, as opposed to the character.
Of course, the fact that he has Lady Penelope chasing after him shows that he's a sexy old dude. (Though I don't pair him with her in TV verse stories, just in movie-verse.)
Batman
Robin/Dick Grayson
The first. The best. He was my first crush at age 5. I have always loved stories centered around him, and have always felt that Batman was somehow incomplete without him. Even as Nightwing, I enjoyed his adventures and the way he matured into his role. Now, he's the Bat, and though I haven't seen him in that role myself, I bet he's far different from his mentor. (BTW, I was glad to hear the writers FINALLY had Bruce adopt Dick. I know it wasn't done when he was first introduced, but now that times have changed... it was the logical thing to do.
