(edited cross posting from my FB to increase coverage ... pass it on!)
I have Friends who are generous!!!! I have friends who knit ...who're crafty ... who record things ... with Mad Skills ... who cook/concoct things (like jams, herbal stuff, mead & whatnot) ... who know Famous People well enough to arm twist them ... who can buy a Gift Certificate with the Best of 'em ... ... ... I need to get Silent Auction items for my non-profit fundraiser Sept 5th. Can anyone help?
This is a fundraiser for The Friends of the Farm at Hilltop (www.FOFAH.com - the info is good, the website needs updating) in Suffield, CT. We are a non-profit that has saved a 20,000 sq ft 1913 dairy barn and an historic farmstead and we are working to establish an educational resource center for agriculture, nature conservancy, and New England history and culture. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. It is a gourmet Harvest Dinner featuring food donated by local farmers cooked by Culinary Institute Chef/teachers and students next door. It is an 'adults' event (Our "Family" event is on Labor Day Monday called "Farm Fest"). It is held at "the farm" under a tent. There are about 320 people of exceptionally diverse backgrounds.
We are looking for material items, service items, luxury items, "destination" items... pretty much anything. Gift Certificates or tickets or passes would also be wonderful. The event is in North Central CT (10 min south of Springfield, MA). Food things have a history of selling well so any of the restaurant chain certificates would be fine. Or if you have a specialty that 'keeps' (like canned/bottled stuff) that would be awesome. Also, a lot of our guests wander ... so "Destination" sorts of things work too. In fact some of the 'suggested' items for our board to scrounge are for items in Boston or New York like Museum Passes, Theater/sporting event/concert tickets (anyone with season tix who'd give up one game/concert?), whale watch gift certs and so forth. We have some things donated already like vacation home rentals, wines, jewelry, an iPod Touch, a Tarot reading, artwork etc... . So there's a wide variety of stuff that would sell well. If you have a service you're willing to offer I'd suggest that it be within reasonable shooting distance of our area or that you be prepared to come here (if you're my friend - and if you're donating you are or will be! - I can arrange crash space here!).
We are trying to have at least descriptions here by August 1st so we can advertise them on our website and get people ready to bid high! Also so our auction organizer can do displays etc. We would love the actual items by then but no later than the last week of August. Any information about the items would be good to have. I figure more info is better than less.
If you think of other folks with goodies to donate, feel free to pass on the information. And, of course, we'd love to have you join us for either the dinner on September 5th (tickets needed) or at Farm Fest (free, no tickets) itself on Monday Sept. 7.
I am happy to give any additional information about the events or the organization (and where to send things) to anyone directly. Leave a comment if we need to connect further.
Thank you thank you thank you for your support of me and of this awesome organization!
