Assassins: The Movie! (We wish...)

artistic_alex likes Assassins better than Sweeney Todd, particularly because his introduction to it largely was the Roundabout Theatre revival a few years ago, which was amazing. With the new Sweeney movie, we've been discussing how awesome it would be if they did a movie of Assassins too. We were brainstorming about who would be good to cast in the movie (...only partially considering whether or not these folks can sing...).

We don't quite have the whole show yet, but here's what we've come up with so far:

- Neil Patrick Harris to reprise his role as the Balladeer/Lee Harvey Oswald
- Johnny Depp as John Wilkes Booth
- While I agree with kdsorceress that Helena Bonham Carter might make a good Squeaky Fromme, she's a bit too old. OTOH, I think Amy Adams would be awesome!
- HBC could do Sara Jane Moore, or perhaps Janeane Garofalo or Lisa Lampanelli.
- Paul Giamatti could play someone, perhaps Guiteau or Zangara (depending on how tall he is...).
- Sean Hayes might also be good for Guiteau.
- Sacha Baron Cohen would be great for Zangara, if he were about 3 feet shorter... either that or they do what they did with the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings.
- As with Squeaky, Philip Seymour Hoffman would be great for Hinckley, if he were a little younger. Perhaps Seth Rogen or Michael Cera might be better.
- Billy Bob Thornton as Samuel Byck.
- Czolgosz I'm still having trouble with... Maybe Javier Bardem...

That's it so far. Any thoughts, replacements?
Tee hee... :-)
